Sugarhouse (2007). This was a twisted punch-gut crime drama centering on two worlds that never should have come together, let alone collided. Even worse, we come to see with our own eyes how prejudiced we truly are. The acting was powerful, where even minor players give standout performances. Ashley Walters created a standout portrayal of his character, maintaining a paroxysm of body undulations only dulled by intense moments of heartfelt empathy. Andy Serkis' poorly checked underlying rage was palpable, and Steven Mackintosh's desperation was appropriate as his plight was finally revealed. The story itself was almost eclipsed by these performances, a gritty tale that most readers will only experience on the silver screen. The result was an unexpected emotional thunderbolt that struck deeper than tears. Merci beaucoup.

Harry Brown--Michael Caine goes Bronson----I liked it

Prince of Persia--adequate enough "popcorn" movie--but what's with the English accents ?

The Gore Gore Girls--early H.G. Lewis film with bad acting, cheap effects, tits and stupid story----fun times

Blood Feast 2--after 40 years H.G. hasn't lost it...more bad acting, cheap effects, tits and stupid story.

There are far worse movies out there for sure. But given that it's purely a man vs environment piece as well as basically a "single room" type of movie, the acting just isn't strong enough to really make it as effective as it could be. I never felt a need to turn it off, but I know I'll never feel a need to watch it again either.

It has some funny moments but isn't really anything special. Well worth a spin if you're in the mood for something mindless. I thought the dude's grandfather in it was pretty funny.

A Serbian Film
Quite enjoyed this although there were a couple of scenes which I found extremely unpleasent and hard to stomach.

Pop Skull-A complete mindfuck of a movie. I had heard about this movie for about 2 years. The hype is true. This might be a new sub-genre called "acid horror" Basically it details the downward spiral of a dejected & rejected ex boyfriend and pill addict, into complete craziness. The lead looks like a combo of Cobain and J Phoenix. A couple of things to point out. There is fairly heavy use of strobe lighting throughout the film. So if you do have epilepsy be warned. The atmosphere is dark, the photography is terrific considering the micro budget. Also, there are a few perfectly placed shocks to keep you off guard. If you have access to this film take a look, its worth it. This film reminds of early Lynch (ie Eraserhead, sort of)
