Masters of Horror: The Washingtonians (Peter Medak)
...the fuck? I can't say that I wasn't entertained, but this has to be among the most ridiculous things that I've ever seen. Some moments from this are just...beyond description. Pretty weird and really stupid, but what the hell - it's good fun. Candyman Well, that was nothing like what I was expecting...and that's a good thing. I was always under the impression that this was a typical slasher flick, so I was never in a huge rush to check it out...was I ever wrong. This movie is really, really cool. I've always liked Tony Todd (mostly 'cause of the Night of the Living Dead remake), but now I'm convinced he's one of the coolest motherfuckers ever to bloody the screen. I'll take him over Freddy, Jason or Micheal any day of the week. Only downside: the movie has more endings than fucking Return of the King.

Willard.
Okay, not bad for a remake, and Crispin Glover is really good. However, one thing that bugged me about the original and this remake is they completely left out all the qualities that made the book so unique and interesting. Both of the movies concentrate on a relatively short period of time that is mainly the last third of the book or so. In the book, after his mother dies, Willard explores the attic of his house and discovers a big rat head mask. He starts wearing this mask around town at night when he goes on excursions with his rat army, robbing and sometimes killing people. People start reporting a giant rat marauding with an army of rats. The town becomes hysterical. People won't go out at night, insurance salesmen hawk Ratman isurance. It gives the book another dimension the movies totally ignore. |

Tenebre 3 ***
Sometimes I got confused because there were so many dark-haired women in this film. The gore wasn't as well done as I expected but it was an 80's movie. Suspenseful but not too scary, IMHO. Spider-2 ** I was pretty disappointed in this movie but Ralph Fienes was fairly convincing in his role. I didn't like the ending. |

Twilight Zone The movie. Still creepy as hell. The last sequence still freaks me out (I was terrified of it as a kid), but the opening short gives me chills knowing Vic Morrow died while making it...
Started Cujo (Bree picked out some good Halloween flicks for this year :D) Watched the first half of The Happening before going to bed.... Holy jesus monkey christ.... Its like Plan 9 From outer space without the passionate exhuberance of Ed Wood. The village is no longer Shyamalans worst piece of shit, and I found myself thinking it a bit clever after witnessing this... Mark Wahlberg seriously seems like he is doing a parody in this. Its like his character in the Big Hit, whoch he obviously (nobody did) didnt take too seriously because it was a goofy action caper. But this is "Mr Somber" Shyamalan's turd. |
