I suppose it is all relative. I class underrated as movies that *I* thought were brilliant, were on release to the general public (and would be recognised by most people) but classed as a *flop* in said movies. A flop because people had preconceived ideas about what they were going to watch (due to biased and bigoted comments from film critics beforehand) and therefore disappointed. Also a flop because the content was either too graphic, or the plot was too *deep* or too *superficial* for them. As a group our interest lies in the horror genre - many of you are into more obscure horror films that I havent heard of - like I am sure some of you havent heard of El dia de la bestia (??). Some of you may not even think "....Baby Jane?" is horror - but I class that as a classic psychological horror movie. It is underrated because some viewers only saw two brilliant actresses playing out a thriller. It's the cruel and *insane* way in which one character treats the other, who is completely helpless (like the guy in the wheelchair in TCM!!). Think of Christian Bale (in The Machinist) who had to lose tons of weight for his character, Joan Crawford had to do the same, to allow Bette Davis to drag her across the floor by her hair! There was no CGI in *those* days!!! So, our interpretation of *underrated* is subjective and relative, yes?

fuck..i forgot about Baby jane..
brilliant movie and mummy dearest.. anything that had Bette Davis.. Joan Crawford and Barbara Stanwick I liked Mia Farrow in the Alfred Hitchcock movie..'blind fury' and Rosemary's baby' but i never thought much of her over all acting as coming close to what these 3 gems portrayed.

We did however include Accion Mutante - by the same director, Alex de la Iglesia. And Whatever Happened to Baby Jane is awesome. So awesome in fact that it doesn't belong on an unsung list it belongs on the must-see list for any film fan. I must say I like your taste:)

I've never heard any stories about Joan Crawford losing weight to make things easier on Davis in Baby Jane. In fact stories abound about the feud between the two divas in this picture doing their best to make life difficult for each other. One of them even has it that Crawford filled her pockets with rocks to make it HARDER for Davis to drag her across the floor.
