Hunt down all those movies, and I gurantee you will find plenty of under-rated gems. Quite simply put, one of the best and brilliant set of obscure movies you will ever get to choose from.
Thanks for pointing out that thread V. Would be great if we finished up writing the blurbs for those movies. Everyone really should check out that thread. Has an amazing list of flicks that are not as recongized as they should be.

Only because of the hollywood hype! People are geared up to watch something totally different to what they actually see on the big screen.

Also, alot of people (especially the critics) miss the whole point of that movie - the title is the hint! The statement is that people can be born evil. But all the way through the movie, both killers deny completely that their *upbringings* caused their overt behaviour (they are both in denial).

Basically, there are hidden depths to a wonderfully graphic, photogenic, satirical, exciting film (well, IMO, anyway!!) :D

I'll be honest here and say that I am guilty, although being a horror buff, of not being knowledgeable on the more *obscure* films. The list is great if you are aware of them, which I am not - but I will try my best to check them out.

I assumed underrated movies were only ones which were in the commercial (hollywood) genre, which didnt become blockbusters because people werent interested - but we can see the diamonds in the coal, so to speak!

For example, RAVENOUS was a flop at the cinema, but I (and a few others here) think its an absolute gem of a film - for plot, continuity, acting, script, imagery, photography, gratuitous violence, etc etc :D

That was really the point of this thread. All due respect to who wrote/contributied to that list. But most of those are pretty obscure.
The movies I was talking about arent particularly hard to find, just movies alot of people overlook or that are largly ignored.

It's on the list. You can find most of the films on Netflix.

From the "Other HDC 100" list:

Ravenous (1999)

Ravenous is a tasteful combination of survival, legend, and cannibalism seasoned with dark humor. Guy Pearce plays an Army captain who is transferred to a fort in the Sierra Nevada foothills which is home to a motley crew of soldiers and Native Americans. Soon thereafter, Robert Carlyle shows up with a frightening tale of a traveling party who was stranded in the mountains. It’s a very well scripted movie and easy to get caught up in the insanity.

A solid cast and a unique soundtrack (that truly enhances the movie) make this a very overlooked film and a must see in my opinion. - cactus

And yes, Ravenous is a spectacular film. I fought hard to make sure it was allowed on to The Other 100 list. :)
