Refusing to leave your property? They deserve a thumping. They can shove their beliefs up their asses if they can not take "no" for an answer.

That's what gets me. My dad was getting pretty pissed too. He was like, "we're RELIGIOUS, go HOME!" And he wouldn't take the hint.

Shoving any belief down your throat is no different than being Hitler in my book, no matter what you are preaching.

Over here they are more respectful..
if you tell them your not interested..they will politely smile and leave
or if you tell them you are of a different religion..they apologise and leave.
Its when your out shopping and they are 'yelling n screaming on the street corner
and pushing pamphlets into your hands..''
OR..you recognise a drunk from the night before who was
sprawled on your front lawn..
standing there..yelling into the mic that he/she is a recovered drunk that was touched by jesus..

Salesmen can smell fear over here. Once some mormons came to the door and my dad had to crush the foot in guy's foot with the door before they left. Damn mormons with their hidden tablets and racist views

Say WHAT?!?

RE: The "religion" bit.
I'm born catholic (or maybe christian, yknow, one of the "carbon copy" ones with Jesus and the cross and all that...), but don't follow any particular religion.
Why?
Mainly because of two things in pretty much all "bibles".
1: If you fuck around with the wrong religion, aka worship false idols - you're fucked, or yknow, doing wrong...so how do I know I got the "right" one? I could be pissing the "one true god" off more and more every time...I mean, how should confession (or equivalent) go on that one? "Well, I don't know if I should confess this or not, but since this might not be the right religion, I've potentially been breaking the rules"?
No thanks.
2: The whole (at least this is the Jesus type bible one...most preach peace unto others for the better part though, so...) "do unto others" bit.
Ok, so treat people how you think you oughta be treated?
I just figure I do that most of the time...unless a person is acting an asshole themselves, in which case, any mistreatment by me, I'll just call karma on behalf of whatever greater power is out there...

I figure that and "do more good than bad" in general oughta have MOST religions covered. Hey if it AINT good enough, then there isn't a "god" I want a thing to do with in the first place. I mean hey, assuming there is a greater power, I'd be wasting the brain provided to me if I DIDN'T have questions about life, faith, spirituality...etc. I don't feel bad for questioning it all...

I dunno what I fall under...I mean, I believe that there's SOMETHING other than us out there, some force of ...guidance... maybe? Something that has defined our evolution and development as a world, and as a species...I just can't bring myself to definitively say who or what I think it/him/her is.

When it comes to "pushing religion" on others...
I think it's a path that people can and should undertake on their own. Parents can of course explain their beliefs, and "raise" children to follow, but I also think there should be honesty - other religions shouldn't be demonised, and freedom to explore them should be allowed, if the child so chooses.
As for the "cold canvassers" so to speak, I think that everyone has a right to pimp their thing to an extent, but, "no thanks" should cover it if a person is not interested...I cannot say I agree with calling on a person at home, but the streets, fine, sure...a person can stop if they want to, and should be easily allowed to keep walking if they are so inclined.
Anymore pushy than that, is annoying, and not respectful towards choices of the individual. However, it's about the person in that case, not so much the religion, and I don't think blanket statements about a religion on the basis of a few pushy fucks.
That said, I think the guys called mormons (fellas that wanna be M.I.B, right?) ought to come across a little less like salesmen. I've been approached, and followed, and this is not welcome behaviour - their methods in general are largely giving them a bad reputation.
The rest, have not given me all that much cause for concern.

I agree with what you said about your personal religion and how to deal with your children about the issue.I consider myself agnostic. The state board of education is trying to pass a bill to teach creationism as part of science. This pisses me off to no end that a school can influence/brainwash my child with this shit. What happened to seperation of church and state?

Don't send your kid to a catholic/christian operated school then...
I've been to both myself. Being forced to go to church every second day at school was pretty fucking lame.
