It's Bad...And It's Just Getting Worse...
How many things have made you think this way?...That so much is wrong and not getting any better?...I've got a few...
1) Parents - So many parents don't have any time for their kids anymore...It's like they just don't care...Why do they have them if they don't want to raise them?...They work more hours to 'provide' for them, and throw money at them to show that they 'care' about them, but it seems they don't really have any idea how to love them...Then they wonder, "What's wrong with these kids?...Why do my kids act like they hate me?...Why won't they listen to me?" Here's a prime example: Seri has a friend...Her friend has an ex...His ex is ALWAYS saying, "I love my kids more than anything in the world...Nothing else matters to me except my kids...I work two jobs to take care of my kids, because they are the most important thing to me"...It actually says this all over her MySpace page, too...And it's the first thing she's tells people when she meets them The TRUTH is: She never even SEES her kids...She doesn't even KNOW these kids She works 8 hours at Walmart, during the day...Then she works 8 hours at a hotel at night...She comes home to sleep (while the kids are sleeping), and her ex (Seri's friend) takes care of the kids all day and night...She has 2 days off which she spends running around, shopping, doing whatever she wants and leaving the kids behind so she can "get a break and relax" because she "works 2 jobs"...When she IS stuck at home with her kids, she calls her ex, every 20 minutes (with the kids crying and screaming in the background) and says things like, "I can't do anything with these kids...They won't listen to me...How do you get them to behave?...What's wrong with them?...Can you come and get them?...I can't handle this, they're driving me crazy"...etcetera... To which she is told, "Try talking to them instead of yelling at them (she's always yelling at them to shutup, even WHILE she's on the phone)"..."Play with them"..."Pay attention to them"..."Take them out and do something with them"...etcetera...But, she just keeps on until he goes and picks them up...It happens EVERY week... And of course the kids (aged 3 and 7) have SAID that they don't like her, because "she's mean"...It's very sad... The only reason anyone can figure as to WHY she works 2 jobs, is to get away from her kids...She could pay all of her bills with ONE job...Instead she chooses to waste a lot of money, and ignore her kids...She told her ex (just last week), "I bought you a present...It was $300, but you'll love it...I borrowed the money from mom"...She doesn't really 'borrow' money from her mother...Her mother has plenty of money and the girl never has to pay it back...Another reason that the girl does NOT have to work 2 jobs to take care of her kids, as she claims That's just one example...But, there are SO many people like this...As well as the ones that blame EVERYTHING but themselves for their kids' actions...But think about it this way...Why WOULDN"T they blame movies, music, video games, and everything else for their kids' behavior?...It CAN'T be the parents' fault...They don't even KNOW their kids, so how could it be THEIR fault?:rolleyes: 2) So-Called Medicine For Kids - Parents load their kids up with sugar, then counteract the effects of the sugar with mind-altering drugs...Sugar addiction/consuming large quantities of sugar causes ALL of the same behavioral patterns as what is commonly called 'ADD'...Too much sugar (especially in children) causes hyperactivity, inability to focus/concentrate, and during sugar lows (such as when kids are in school and can't get another fix until lunch time), it causes depression, aggression, irritability, crying jags, and general bad behavior Have you ANY idea how much shit that's marketed for children is LOADED with sugar?...Do you know why kids drown everything in ketchup (ketchup has a LOT of sugar in it)?...Look at their favorite cereals...Poptarts...Peanut butter and Jelly (LOADED with sugar)...fast food...Yeah, these things have always been around, but the manufacturers are actually putting MORE sugar in shit now, than they ever have before, because they know the kids will beg their parents for that 'sugar high' How many kids are hooked on cookies, cakes, pudding, etcetera?...Parents put Little Debbies and Candy in their kids' lunches... Seriously...If you're curious about this...Look into it...It may surprise you... Parents give their kids this stuff because it's fast and easy...Much better for the parents than actually COOKING A MEAL... STOP giving these kids drugs...Take away the fucking SUGAR instead I'm still pissed off about the little girl who was diagnosed at the age of TWO as 'ADD and BIPOLAR'...They put her on these drugs at 2 years old...She died at the age of 4...They found her laying on her parents' bedroom floor in nothing but a diaper...They couldn't even take the time to potty train her by the age of 4...Family members had said that the girl was "always sedated"..."like a zombie"...WHY didn't they DO something about it?...The doctor who prescribed that shit should be shot...Wouldn't the definition for 'ADD' be considered what is NORMAL behavior for a 2 year-old? 3) Movies - We keep saying there's nothing original anymore...But, is there really anything LEFT to do?...Haven't we gone just about everywhere we CAN?...Don't you think that by making all of these remakes they're saying, "Okay, we've already done EVERYTHING, so let's just take the best of what we've got, and do it OVER"?...I'd love to see something 'new'...But, what concepts have we not already seen? 4) Inflation - I took Seri to get some groceries the other night (just because I have a need to feel like I'm still 'taking care of her' in some capacity, NOT because she actually needed it)...And she doesn't need nearly as much groceries as we do...She didn't get anything expensive or fancy, and the total was $130, just for enough groceries for ONE person...That's insane... AND...Some people are spending as much for a vehicle as a person could buy a HOUSE for...Doesn't anyone see how ridiculous that is? 5) Relationships - Look at what's happened to Miss Olivia...There are other people, just at this forum, who have been through similar shit in the last couple of years...Everywhere you go, people are fighting...In our own families people are treating each other like shit...WHY?...What has happened?...So many people are taking each other for granted, and treating them like garbage...Doesn't anything mean anything anymore? 6) Stupidity - Pretty self-explanatory, and basically outlined in everything else I have mentioned here up to this point...Doesn't it seem like there are so many MORE idiots in the world than there used to be?...Cashiers who can't even add...I'm not going into ALL of the examples, there are FAR too many... I had a few more (Customer Service, Gas Prices, Employers/Employees, etcetera), but I'm aggravated now...lol... It's your all's turn...

Oh, Rayne, you have awakened the sleeping ranter in me.
Actually, it's never asleep, just that I keep it quiet most of the time. I totally know where you're coming from. I look around me and despair. I think a lot of it is to do with the so-called 'good old days', but things are definitely getting worse. One particular one you picked out there really strikes a chord with me. The stupidity - it's something I've noticed in my town much more recently. And (surprise surprise) it's most obvious within groups of young lads - all trying to be 'cool' with each other. It seems they wear stupidity like a badge - and (I assume) hide any intelligence as something to be ashamed of. I don't have kids, but a year or so ago I was in a relationship where my girlfriend had 2 kids from a previous relationship. In truth, she had been a teenage mother and was completely unprepared for what life threw at her. She hadn't had the opportunity to stop being a child herself, and it really came across in her relationship with the kids. As a bizarre example, she wouldn't allow the word 'god' to be taken in vain, and had special words to describe parts of the body (eg 'flower' for the female genetalia) but would scream at her kids to 'Shut the f**k up you little c***ts!, and would see nothing wrong with that. Cars - don't get me started on that one! Adverts on TV telling us that from only £25,000 you could have one of these - that it's 'not about getting from A to B but about HOW you get there' - it's a mode of transport! It's made to get you from A to B! But apparently you're less of a person if you don't have the latest car or mobile phone. Politicians. I don't believe a word any one of them says. It is ALL about putting a spin on a hidden agenda, the whole time. It's got to the point where I wouldn't believe any politician who told me black was black, though that would never happen because none of them ever EVER give a straight answer to anything. Health and Safety. It's no longer about looking after the wellbeing of those in question, it's now all about covering yourself against litigation. Behind the hot tap (faucet, for the US peeps) at work there is a sign which says 'DANGER - HOT WATER!' Just what exactly would our employees expect to come out of the hot tap??? As you said, there are so many more, but this is a start. And by the way, if you ever want a rant about anything, I'm always happy to be a rantee. Finally - I watched 'An Inconvenient Truth' the other night. I defy anybody to watch that and then tell me things aren't getting worse. *Puts head in hands and cries*

My lady and I have first hand exp. with the situation that society puts there children in.
My lady worked for my family as an accoutant. My son had started K school and only went half day so she wanted to work at home part of the time. Seeing that it was OK for my sister to do this who also was part of the family business what problem could there be? Plenty. Mom wanted my lady there all the time, put my kids in daycare she said. From 6am til 6pm. Creeper didnt think so. I told her to quit. She did and I have severed all ties with my family permanently. This is the 3 rd time that my kids were less important than the family business. 3 strikes your out. Lady now runs a daycare, ironic isnt it, out of our home. We see alot of kids that are neglected. Its very very sad. At 4 years old some dont even know their alphabet. Not even some of it. Alot of parents are told by the public schools that their kids have mental issues. My mother inlaw is a public school teacher, she loves the kids on ADD drugs and such. They behave so well. AKA ZOMBIES. sickening. I could rant on this for days and days, but I am just trying to improve my little part of the world. Its all we can do. Personally I think we should allow the stupid people to have a voice. That way we know who the stupid people are.

I have never been a fan of any medication really, but especially all the perscription shit they're handing to kids like candies these days. I'll take a Benadryl when my allergies act up and that's about it for the (legal) drugs I'll put in my body. I wonder what the statistics are in terms of what percentage of grade schoolers are on Ritalin nowadays. Whatever happened to kids being kids?
Personally, I think ADD is a load of crap dreamed up as a way to put some extra coin into a few different pharmaceutical companies pockets.

I have never understood how ANYONE could think it's a good idea to give a MIND-ALTERING drug, to a child whose mind is still FORMING...They HAVE to know that they're fucking up these kids' brains...It can only be that they just don't give a shit...And if that's the case, they should stop freaking out when the kids are 15-17, completely out of control, drug addicts...And they should not ask, "What's wrong with these kids?"...They already know...
