The Metroid Series

This series of games owes plenty to films like Aliens and the like, and I'm sure some of you are at least aware of the series of games. The first Metroid is almost certainly one of the creepiest games on the NES and can absolutely be considered a horror game. The sometimes empty corridors, the minimalist music score and the absolute terror as you encounter the bosses will always stick in my mind. Super Metroid on the SNES kept this going with an even better music score, longer game and fantastic gameplay. This series will always hold a place in my heart.
