Amanda Knox
If I'm understanding correctly what they said on the video I just watched, she has won her appeal.
I haven't followed this closely, but I watch the news every morning while getting ready for work, so couldn't help but hear about it. I've found it interesting that this case and the case of Casey Anthony got so much media attention. There are murder trials going on every day in the U.S. What made these two cases stand out? About 3-4 years ago, I was on a jury of a murder trial. To me, it was a pretty sensational case. A young woman was accused of bludgeoning her ex-boyfriend's current girlfriend in his apartment. And the trial I was involved with was the defendant's third trial. The first two ended in a hung jury......as did our trial. The trial lasted two months and barely made the local news. If you're curious about it, Google the name Irina Malinovskaya, she was a student at Wharton University, her ex-boyfriend (Robert Bondar) was a student at Widener Law School, and the deceased (Irina Zlotnikov) was a student at Temple University. So, I'll ask again....what made the other two cases different that they made national news?

I honestly believe it is what a reporter reports that appeals to the masses. Its a lot more horrible to report on the death of a baby as opposed to a grown up. Its all media sensation. What is going to get the news ratings? Something that is absolutely horrendous. Teenagers and twenty-somethings can fuck off...I only give a shit about the children who are unable to defend themselves. In the end I believe its a journalist trying to make a name. Its disgusting.

I think race and social status play a factor as well. In the case you mentioned, the fact that the girl was not American could have explained the media's lack of interest. That's a terrible thing to say, but I think that could be the reason.

I think what you say makes a lot of sense, actually. And, ALL of the players in the trial were Russian. None of them were American. They were all here to go to school.

It has something to do with this. Very similar.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missing...woman_syndrome I wanna say, Amanda Knox was COMPLETELY innocent. Like the West Memphis Three. I thought Italy had a better justice system than U.S. |
