More Treasures - 4 Categories

My undying quest to uncover horror treasures continues. None of these films made the HDC lists and nothing dates past 1999 because the HDC decade list is still a work in progress. These are my recommendations in 4 categories:

Hidden Gems

Shivers (1975)
Burnt Offerings (1976)
And Soon The Darkness (1970)
Rabid (1977)
Coma (1978)
Inferno (1980)
Phenomena (1985)
Parents (1989)
Mute Witness (1994)
The Relic (1997)
The Last Broadcast (1998)
Tales From The Crypt (1972)
Vault Of Horror (1973)
Who Can Kill A Child? (1976)
Young Poisoner's Handbook (1995)
Stir Of Echoes (1999)

Pure Cheese

Parts: The Clonus Horror (1979)
Kingdom Of The Spiders (1977)
Giant Spider Invasion (1975)
The Car (1977)
Food Of The Gods (1976)
Frogs (1972)
Beware The Blob (1972)
Slugs (1988)
The Stuff (1985)
Night Of The Lepus (1972)
Squirm (1976)
Werewolf (1996)
Hobgoblins (1988)
Merlin's Shop Of Mystical Wonders (1996)
Devil Dog: Hound Of Hell (1978)

Guilty Pleasures

The Godsend (1980)
Halloween 3: Season Of The Witch (1982)
The Entity (1982)
Tourist Trap (1979)
Lair Of The White Worm (1988)
The Gate (1987)
Killer Klowns From Outer Space (1988)
Impulse (1984)
Race With The Devil (1975)
Of Unknown Origin (1983)
Thirst (1979)

Small Screen Horror

Dark Secret Of Harvest Home (1978)
Lars Von Trier's The Kingdom (1994)
Children Of The Stones (1977)
Ghostwatch (1992)
To Catch A Killer (1992)
The Deliberate Stranger (1986)
The Stranger Within (1974)
The Woman In Black (1989)

What others?

Thanks for that I've added ones I haven't seen to my list. I'm too wasted right now to go into detail but I adore Inferno (one of my fave ever films), Rabid, Phenomena and Shivers. Still got to see Night OF THe Lepus and Burnt Offerings.

Burnt Offerings and Night Of The Lepus are good. I have seen them. Special effects in Lepus could be better though.

Finally got hold of burnt offerings (comment when viewed) next one on list will seek out Lepus and soon the darkness, food of the gods etc. Seen Vault Of Horror that is very good a bit dated I suppose but one that is very enjoyable although the ending may be a bit obvious to the die-hards. Saw Tales Of The Crypt but it must have been years ago I'll look at a review when I have more memory available.

Oh dear I'm sorry but I hated "Burnt Offerings" I had to keep stopping it cos I was getting bored, despite my perserverance I got to the end and I didn't think there was any reward there at all. Unusually disappointing.

Oh well. I really enjoyed it. The concept was really creepy and I think it needed the slow, ethereal atmosphere.

The FX were fucking great - you had the choice of actors dressed as rabbits, rabbit puppets or real rabbits on little teenie, tiny sets..Class film..

This is what annoyed me about it. Usually films with creepy ethereal atmosphere are among my faves and I felt Burnt Offerings didnt have any at all (when you compare it others)We'll agree to disagree :)Anyway Night Of The Lepus will have to wait as its harder to track down so I'll watch The Stuff next.
