Question Is Cheese an endangered species?

Is it just me or are CGI effects spoiling modern horror viewers? I mean, am I the only one who can appreciate old fashioned cheese? Take Food of The Gods (1976) If that movie was filmed today all the rats would be Computer Generated rather than using real rats in miniature sets and the movie would totally lose something. If you haven't seen it, you should It's an endangered species[/I]

I don't know if CGI is necessarily spoiling viewers, but I'd sure like to see less use of it.
The Wolfman with Hopkins was over the top in the CGI department IMO. I'm an old school horror fan, and while I can certainly appreciate new horror films, the overuse of CGI just makes a lot of them look too cartoony or outlandish to me.

Not in all cases, but a lot of them.

Yeh I miss when everything was practical effects.

A bad practical effect is more effective than bad CGI not to mention amusing at times.

I'm not totally against the use of it but I think a balance of the two is what's needed.

Red face

You're so right there needs to be a balance between the two. Plus it's much more interesting when you find out how they did the old special effects. Ho hum, CGI again

Best picture I could find of Deadly Eyes. These are Dachshunds dressed as rats:
