Need some advice...
As some of you may or may not know, I do photo touch-ups and edits for models. Most of what I do, is very horror-oriented, and gritty.
I've received two emails today, from someone in the UK, who claims to be with FHM Magazine, and is offering me $350 for touching up 60 pictures. But something is very strange about the email he sent, that makes me think that it could be a scam of some sort. One of the things, being, the website address he gave me, does not go to FHM. In fact, it goes nowhere. He also will not tell me where this "fashion show" is going to take place, and he's wanting me to be there on the 24th and 25th of this month. All he's saying is that "it's somewhere close to you". The whole thing seems a bit strange. I'm wondering if this is some sort of scam, or something that will put me in the middle of something and get me arrested? Last edited by VampiricClown; 07-14-2009 at 04:52 PM. |

Quick Google search shows this is pretty similar to a known scam.
Here's a site with a few examples and a shitload of others that got the same kind of message. See if it matches up with what you got: http://www.modelmayhem.com/po.php?thread_id=375097

I'm thinking about just telling them I can't do it, due to other appointments on that day. If they were with FHM, they would send me a correct link I would think. They sent me:
http://www.fhmmagazine.com This site is basically one of those domains you land on when you mistype something, and it shows stuff similar to your search results. They are also asking for all kinds of personal info, such as address, phone numbers, etc., and then it has a place for alias names. |

My Model Mayhem Page I'm set up on there as a photoshop wizard. I did actually get my art on a site for an upcoming movie set to be released in the next couple of years. I did some art for the main actress in the movie. Thanks Return! |

If you want to check it out, go here. It's the second picture for Nicole. You'll see my signature "RH" in the bottom right-hand corner of the picture. Oddly enough, the actress lives only about 15 minutes from where I do. The movie is being filmed in Hollywood though. |

i think a reputable magazine would pay a hell of a lot more than that for work on 60 photos

I think that people that do photo touch-ups, at least the ones I've talked to, don't charge much at all to do it. I've got a few friends that are into fashion modeling, (and some other types) and they don't pay much of anything for touch-ups. You're probably right though. |

Yeh, by the looks of it a scam. You get in their transport, which turns out to be an old Transit Van (because the limo is in the shop), and they bust your head in with a pipe.
Or, you know, they steal your identity and don't even send transport. My ones more exciting.
