The 80s Horror Tournament

I have been getting plenty of PMs to get another movie tourney going, and since we have had the 70s and 90s done last year, plus the previous version of this same tourney was completed by yours truly more than three years back, let's see if all the new members who have become an integral part of HDC can combinedly decide if the original winner is indeed truly worthy of the crown as THE KING OF 80s HORROR.

Our HDC forum has been facing a real lack of traffic lately. Let's hope that through this tourney, members start logging back in and the place flourishes again.

Now everyone knows that the 80s was the real Golden Age for the horror movie genre. The 70s and the 80s redefined the horror genre and gave many memorable classic horror movies which stand incomparable even today. Where the 70s brought milestones and trendsetters, the 80s developed them further and gave birth to a slew of franchises which made our horror genre extremely popular.

I have shortlisted 243 movies based on user votes (at IMDB) and popularity (among horrorhounds like us), ranging from releases from 1980 to 1989.

Before starting the tournament, I d like to clarify that the rules stay the same for the initial rounds. 5 votes in favor will decide the winner, and just in case I am not online to declare it, you may continue to vote till I am online next to update the match in progress.

So...without further ado...

(Hitting the Rewind button to almost three decades back) Here we go...
