Worst Flop Ever!

This weekend saw a historic moment in movie history- the worst flop ever, for a film in wide release. The animated film Delgo opened in 2,160 screens and raked in $511,920 - that averages out to two people per showing per screen.

You can read the full story here, and watch the trailer:

As soon as I saw the poster for this one, I could tell it was going to be pretty dire...had no idea it'd flop THIS badly.

You know, I almost feel like I should see it now...be part of cinema history :p

The voice cast sounds awful. Freddie Prinz is hands down one of the worst voice actors ever (happily n'ever after....), and sorry, I love Malcom McDowell as much as the next person, but he is hardly known for always taking the best role handed to him.

And six screenwriters? there are movies currently in developement hell that have MANY screenwriters, and they all seem to ultimately flop hard. its rare that there are more than 2 writers that can pull off soemthing good on one script.

poor bastards, this would have been awesome if they had made something... good....

Maybe the "this thing is terrbile" word of mouth will help them recoup some of their losses.

Haven't heard of it, looks like it has a spot next to Zyzzyx Road in cinema history though.

Just saw the trailer, doesn't look bad but the art direction and animation are both pretty lackluster. Reminded me of Kameo for the 360 almost...

I hadn't heard of it. Or most of the ones on the page linked to it about superstar flops. But it does give me a sick satisfaction when these stars that are so in love with themselves they think their shit smells like chocolate get a reality check, especially Eddie Murphy or Nicholas Cage. But at the same time it's a shame if it's a genuinely good film. You never can truly tell until you've watched it.
