What do you drive?
Inspired by the recent acquisition of a new car by our very own MD (who is probably busy playing GTA in real life with it in her hometown right now)...
So yeah...what do you drive? And how good of a troubleshooting mechanic are you? I have my own 4x4. I can do the changing of tyres during a puncture and the basic oiling, greasing, battery-charging and stuff. But ask me to fine-tune an engine or repair a zonked-out car, and I am completely clueless. :o Long trips? Yeah, sometimes. If I am confident enough that the car wont break down, or if there are good garages nearby on the route I will be taking. But umm yeah...I m what they ll call a very BASIC driver.

I drive a 2001 Toyota Echo. Can't do any troubleshooting at all. Depends on what you mean by long trips. I've driven to upstate New York (about 6 hours).

Thought you had a car. Quote:
Yeah 6-7 hour trips would be pretty long. I d need at least 2-3 breaks in-between...just to get the legs stretched and the back straightened out. Do you feel any sort of fatigue after a 6 hr driving trip? I sure do.

I have owned vehicles in the past, and indeed enjoyed driving long distances- by that I mean trips that take days. I even wrote a play about it, which can be found here, if you have any desire:

I love my little car! It gets about 40 mpg highway. I just filled up this morning - it cost me $31.00, but it'll last about 2 weeks, barring any long trips. Oh, I definitely make pit-stops when I do long drives. My back wouldn't be able to take it if I drove straight through. Yes, I definitely suffer fatigue after driving that long. Usually when I get to my destination, that's it I'm staying put until the next day. And I usually fall asleep on the couch (when I go to upstate New York, I go to visit my uncle).
