Like a Family...

...of horror freaks.

Not even kidding.
I consider you guys family.

Example:

Posh-doll - brother
Vampiric - cousin
Newb & Zero - uncles
Mona - Aunt

Only a few up there, but almost all of you have a place in the "family".
That's why I'd like to ask all of you for advice.
I'm sure you guys have either been in a similar situation, or know someone who has.

My other family (the one I didn't choose to be a part of) is having major problems.

Examples:

-My 15-year-old brother has decided that he's too good to listen to my mom, who has to deal with him alone while my dad is out-of-state working.
Not good.

- The fact that my dad has to go out-of-state for work is stressful.

- Also, I've given up my room to our 50-something year-old diabetic, frail roommate with a broken hip.
For the couch, mind you.
He can't get in and out of the fifth-wheel (like a camper) that he was renting.
I'm just nice like that.

- I'm going to school from 7am to 4:30pm and working from 5pm to 9pm.
And I'm 18, so I am going to have to move out when my dad gets back in a month or two.

- My mom, bless her soul, is going through so much more!

There is a lot more, but the point is, I am so stressed!!!
And so is everyone else!

So here is where I ask for advice:

- What can I do to help out my mom?

- Should I push myself to move out, or to stay for as long as possible?

- What do I do about sleeping on a couch?

- Should I get my GED so I can work more. The GED will give me enough credits for my deploma.

- Is there anything you can suggest to relieve some stress?

- And is there any new movies that you would recommend? Just a-wonderin'!
Might help me unwind... Usually does anyhow!

Thank you sooo much! ^.^

And I have to add this on for effect:

I love you!!! :p <3

1- Number one, be supportive, thats always the best thing you can do. Second try to help her as much as you can with anything, even taking care of the little stuff for her would be a big help. And show her that you love her.

2- Don't move out unless you can handle it. Its not cheap and its not easy living on your own or even with a roommate or two. If you feel that you need to move out, then go ahead and do it, just be prepared to work your ass off for it. Being independent isn't easy.

3- Sleeping on a couch isn't that bad, you could be sleeping on the floor. Just deal with it until you can get something better, its not really that big of a deal. You'll get used to it.

4- Since your 18 i'm guessing that you are a senior, which means that your almost done. Try to keep at it if its possible, if you find that its not, then go for the GED. Just think of it as a race, your allready in the home stretch, and who would drop out of the race that close to the finish line?

5- Smoke a big fat joint! That always relieves me of stress, or if your not into that do something that you love to do, play a game, read a book, watch a movie. If it gets too bad there is always somebody that you can talk to, talk to your counselor, your principle, a teacher you look up to, or your mom. Talking about it normally alleviates stress and helps you consider your options, and helps you to find solutions. Just don't drink to relieve stress, because that will just be a crutch, and if you use the crutch to much, your legs will get weak and you'll need it all the time just to walk. (Obviously its not a crutch but you know what I mean)

6- Not that I can think of at the moment, though my brain isn't working at maximum efficiency at the moment because I'm half drunk at the moment and sobering up.

And remember, if life gets you down, stare at a clown! :p can you tell me where that quote is from?

Ha, I don't even consider my family, family...

Quote:
1- What can I do to help out my mom?

Try having some 18 year old friends smack your brother around some.
Do the dishes.
Don't make more mess than you're prepared to clean up, promptly.
Throw in on the occasional bill/grocery shop.
...I think that should have you covered.

2- Should I push myself to move out, or to stay for as long as possible?

You should discuss this with your mother, frankly, without any "I am a parent and therefore required to give certain answers" bullshit coming into it.
Be adult about it. Discuss a plan on what you both come up with on level ground.

3- What do I do about sleeping on a couch?

I don't mind sleeping on the couch...as long as you've got a level surface and your pride isn't above it, a couch is fine - we used to sleep on hay, dirt, rocks and the like...some still do.
I think it's a perspective thing.

4- Should I get my GED so I can work more. The GED will give me enough credits for my deploma.

Work is just work...if you need to, put in any additional effort to get the kind of work that makes you financially stable and not want to kill everyone around you, that's about as good as it gets.

5- Is there anything you can suggest to relieve some stress?

Weed, screaming at night, excersize, jasmine tea, listen to the rain when it's available, Touch your fingers and thumbs together, close your eyes and focus on only the sound of your breathing, and the pulse you feel through your fingertips - that one's my personal relaxer.

6- And is there any new movies that you would recommend? Just a-wonderin'!
Might help me unwind... Usually does anyhow!

Try old movies that you've yet to see. Almost definitely gonna be a better way to spend your time.

Stare at a clown............................
Is it form Joe Dirt?
That's all I can think of. ^.^
I'm guessing it's a spoof off of something else...

Thank you guys!

I should also add on that I'm complaining about the couch because I don't get any privacy.
I have to sleep completely clothed, I have to change in the bathroom, and I have nowhere to go to be alone or have a private conversation.
I love the couch itself!
It's really comfy!
And if I move out, I already have reliable roommates.
And I already have a kick ass job that I love...
Plus I'm getting a $2 raise when I start full time again.
Imagine making $11 at my age!
:p

And one more thing...

What can I do about my brother?
Any ideas?
He's a little punk.
I want to kick him square in the groin and watch him cry.

I'm going to the movie place in about half an hour.
I'm thinking The Pit & the Pendulum and The Black Cat... What do you think?
Poe night???

That would probably be a good start?
I dunno...you could TRY talking it out, doing the mature thing, and yknow THEN damage him?

Have not seen/read either.
Always thought the first one had a better ring to it though.

Hehe... well it's really windy here, so I don't want to be camping in the yard half naked...
Plus, I'm sure my beloved wouldn't like me to. ^.^
Not unless he's there!

Yeah, but is giving up so close to graduating worth 11 dollars an hour? If it is to you then go for it. I wouldn't though

And one more thing...

Posh-doll - brother
Vampiric - cousin
Newb & Zero - uncles
Mona - Aunt

Zero would be more like Tommy's Uncle Ernie

Do you think it's alright,
To leave the boy with Uncle Ernie?
Do you think it's alright;
He's had a few too many tonight!
D'you think it's alright

For someone who is so young..you have always had a level head
and for this you are to be highly commended.
To be honest your situation sounds kinda sucky for a somebody like yourself who should be enjoying herself.
Your brother needs a definate wake up call but then hes a teen ..experiencing puberty.
They blame everything on the shift of the moon or something like that.
As for you moving out ..hrmmm...
For now it would be added worries for your mum..
things like ..is she eating well ..?
how is she supporting herself..?? etc.

What i think should happen here actually is for you all to talk to your dad and tell him the stress your all under and he needs to spend more time with your mum..I dont know ..
even if he was to take her on one of his trips ..just to get her out of the house.

thats all i have . :o

Wow... You guys are awesome!

So, here's a quick update:

My little brother now has a giant trampoline.
Now He has something to do besides torment people.

I've decided not to move out until after graduation.
I'm getting my driver's license, so that will help with work.

My mom is doing better.
I really respect and love her.
Couldn't ask for a more kick-ass mom!

I'm the maid of honor at my friend's wedding.
She's marrying a marine, so this is torture for me.
I'll be wearing a "marine" bride's maid dress... which is really a dark blue prom dress...
I've so decided to have either a bohemian or a horror based wedding...
No more prom dresses for Nova!

Thanks guys!
Imma crash.
You're opinions mean a lot to me!

And Newb... you are so right about Zero... :p
Uncle Ernie even looks like a monkey!
