wackos

I grew up as a kid watching horror movies. I loved 'em then and I love 'em now. I know plenty of other people who did the same and the funny thing is we're kinda normal people (said with slight grin across face).

Anyway, I'm thinking that maybe it's the people who didn't grow up watching horror movies that turn into the nutjobs we see on the news all the time?

Maybe when we are growing up, at the right age we need to face our fears and deal with them, lest our fears deal with us later in life!

I dunno? What do you think?

I think that we here on HDC are wackos in a totally good way.

Living a sheltered life is bound to make one snap eventually. it's proven that people who watch scary movies have an easier time dealing with stress.

Not watching horror does not have anything to do with being a nut.
One of my friends never watched horror as a child and never really enjoyed it later in life.....oh wait, bad example-she's totally neurotic.:p

Lack of emotional stability in the first 4 years usually does the trick though, especially for sociopaths.

I too was was brought up with a nice diet of flesh and blood as a child. The first film I can remember seeing was either Dracula Prince of Darkness or Frankenstein: the true story.

With the advent of VCR's our family kept the tradition up with anything from 2 to 3 films per night - the first being Cannibal Holocaust, closely followed by the likes of Halloween, Friday the 13th etc, and so far I have not attempted or even wished to kill anyone, oh o.k. maybe some people, nor do I possess a carving knife or machete, though I do have an axe - camping.

I currently work alongside the Police and have seen enough 'real incidents' to know the difference between make-up/sfx and the real thing.

No matter how scarey or bloodthirsty a film may be, there's no comparison to the real sickos out there. You just have to look at all the real serial killers, have they become what they are because of something they've seen in a film?, I would doubt it. Jack the Ripper didn't have a cinema/dvd's to watch; both Psycho and TCM where based upon Ed Gein, not the other way around.

movies don't create killers!

Movies make killers more creative!
