Bravo Microsoft!
So i bought my 360 last December & after a week i'm getting disc dirty/unreadable messages. Last night it dies on me completely with the red flashing light on the front of the console.
I phone customer support this morning & after being put on hold for 15 minutes get through to tech support, an Italian living in Italy & speaking Italian! After some confusion he then reconnects me to Tech support in England to an Indian with a very strong accent, i can't understand him & he's having trouble with my accent as well. I get cut off or he hangs up...... For the whole process to start again. After the best part of 90 minutes & being cut off 3 times i get the splendid news i have to send the console back for repair but not too worry because it will only take 10-15 days to repair! Anyone else had problems?

I'm not going to get one...if I want one of the two more graphically advanced systems, I'll wait on the ps3...the thing is, evidently sony has taken more time with the development...which means it'll more than likely not only have the edge graphically, but things like the liquid coolant system will probably have it run a lot better.
I mean shit...I hear x360 has released an extra fan so that their systems won't blow out from overheating? Now a new model? That there tells me that maybe it could've waited a while longer to come out. Then there's the whole "not immediately backwards compatible with all previous xbox titles" thing, that there's just stupid.

They rushed it so that they could get the upper hand on the PS3. Which is starting to seriously catch up to 'em. Sure, they came out early and have the upper hand in the popularity department for awhile, but right when PS3 releases, their system starts to malfuntion and get call backs. So they've pretty much accomplished the exact opposite of what they set out to do.
However, mine works just fine, has been since I bought it without a glich.

my story
Bought the 360 last April....did not get the extended warranty....red lights of death the end of November.If I was to send it to microsoft to fix, it would have cost me $144 plus shipping for a "refurbished" system.Said to myself....fuck it..Christmas was coming with about three games on list.Went to Best Buy and bought a $299 version [ didn't need the hard drive] also purchased the $40 two year warranty. A week later microsoft extends its original warranty to a year.Callled them with no problems and had my old system back in less than two weeks. Now I have two.......I'll use one for backup.

Talking to one of my mates today he said there was a consumer programme on tv the other night called Watchdog & there was loads of cases of the red light of death just after the warranty expired. Glad i've pre ordered a ps3 hopefully if i get the 360 back in time i can px it.

I got a 2 year warranty on mine from Best Buy so if it dies I'll just pick up another one. PS3s also can't play every game, it's having problems with some of the Greatest Hit library last I read. I'll get a PS3, but not anytime soon, maybe when more games come out. Next system I'll pick up is the Wii... I love that thing.

Fuck consoles.
Get a high end computer. PLay better games, with better graphics resolutions, and you also have a tool that can do things no console can.

No way am I getting into the my console is better than your console argument, I will just say that electronic stuff tend to break and no, the playstation 3 is actually no exception despite what you might want to believe. ;)
