The more more i think about it there really hasnt been an actual dracula movie that lives upto the first three hammer films ever.

You know Chris, for the most part, I agree. Those first three Hammer movies were all really, really good. The later ones were fun, but not as much fun.
I thought "Captain Kronos" was pretty damn good, even if it wasn't a Dracula film. |

yeah its like Christopher Lee who has done these films close to over 40 years ago is still the master actor who plays dracula and yeah the later ones where a little goof ballish especially dracula 1972 or the satanic rites of dracula, but the point is that im trying to say is i dont think there will ever be an actor that will come close to christopher lee's version. I think somebody should be able to make a great franchise at dracula again but who could fit his shoes?

I might get my throat ripped out for this, but I honestly thought Richard Roxburgh did a great job in Van Helsing. Nowhere near as great as Lugosi or Lee of course, but I still think he was very good as the Count, despite the many flaws of the film.

Ya can't forget about Nosferatu which came before the '31 film. Only reason it wasn't called Dracula is because the film company couldn't get the rights to the story. Florence Stoker(Bram's widow) even sued for copyright infringement and won because of the close similarities with only slight changes.
