blue oyster cult

saw 'dont fear the reaper' mentioned in another thread that prompted me to give these guys a thread.

they have always had their roots in horror..

dont fear the reaper
joan crawford has risen from the grave
godzilla

etc ..

in my opinion Agents of Fortune is one of the best albums of all time ..

although i have a trusty vinyl copy i have it on mp3 at work and i cant stop listening to it .. man its a good album..

honerable mention : the mutton birds do a nice cover of 'reaper' on The Frighteners soundtrack..

I cant stand that cover! I usually watch the credits for my favourite movies, but I just cant suffer through that. Awesome movie, but that song is just...Yuck. I love the original though, of course.

Burnin' for You is another great one from them. Pretty cool band.

no - but i think i have a demo tape of it .. i'll have to check it out.

one more thing about BOC ..

the thing i find the coolest about them is that although their songs are largely about horror, fantasy, and sci-fi .. they dont have the sound and feel of all those cliched bands considered to be 'horror bands'

i've said it before and it applies to the music too ... i think you can make and enjoy horror products without trying to live them..

like olivier said to hoffman during the filming of marathon man : 'why dont you just act ?'
