good news- sam raimi is writting the script so it should be good (although they are in search of a new director)

bad news-i heard ashton kutcher is playing ash (but it could be good if he pulls a "butterfly effect" which i thought was ok)

The character "Ash" wont be in the remakes...

Bruce and Sam agree that Ash is now legedary and think Bruce should keep it, EDRemake is a remake of the old story yes but the character wont be named Ash, he probably will have some other cool three letterword name, Zac, for example.

However, the "actor" Ashton probably will.

Scary though right there...

From what Ive heared, the character wont be in it at all, unlike what Y2DAZZ said. It'll just be a random bunch of teens, and one may ultimatly survive longer than rest and become a hero of sorts, but it wont be Ash.

I've only seen the movie Evil Dead 2. I thought it was so hilarious, it turned me off of any other Evil Dead films. When I want horror, I want horror, not comedy. To me Evil Dead 2 was just too funny.

Yah. It was supposed to be.

Evil Dead , however, is a horror movie.

Stubborn bastard...

Just kidding, but Evil Dead 2 is one of my favorites ever...

You need to see the 1st one Dew. A bit of comedy, but no more than average. Great movie.

The first Evil Dead is a pretty serious horror movie. There's a little humor involved, but not a whole lot really. It's my favorite of the trilogy, so I'd say to give it a chance. As for the remake, I can't say I'm surprised. I really hope Ashton Kutcher won't get the part, but it could be worse, I suppose. Maybe.
