I saw CUrsed and it was a decent PG-13 but it might have been better if it had been rated R.

It's not just horror films that are being affected. In England King Arthur was released as a certificate 12,our version of a PG-13.All the battle scenes were virtually blood free and the violence was left to your imagination.
A few months later the film was released on DVD and guess what,
it was loudly advertised as being the uncut, not seen in the cinema version. Now you could see the film as it was meant to be viewed, with graphic fight scenes including plenty of blood and decapitations.
It's just a pure money making exercise and the only answer is to boycott the movies at the cinema if they are released watered down. The trouble is there's not enough enough of us out there who give a shit enough to make a difference.

No one should censor anything, it should all be left alone

Its not like a film called 'Massacre at Central High' is about fluffy rabbits is it?

You never hear me complaining about how a film was too wholesome, I just watch what I want to watch and if it offrends me I have an OFF BUTTON

I believe that people have lost the ability to make scary films without blood and gore. That's sort of the flipside of the other complaint, that filmmakers water down their product to suit audience demographics.

But remember, they were gonna make the "Dawn of the Dead" remake as a PG-13 originally, and finally came to their senses and delivered an R-rated flick. (Not that remaking it was a good idea in the first place. But I digress.)

I agree with Filmmaker. A movie doesnt NEED tits and buckets of gore to be good [Although it can help:D]. Just look at older movies, classics like Pit and the Pendulum. Not an ounce of blood, not a single curse word, no nudity whatsoever. The Dr. Phibes movies, though plently bloody, only earned PG-13 ratings. Plus, many "R" rated movies really dont deserve to be. How bout the original TCM?
