House 3 (The Horror Show)
Anyone else seen this film (aka The Horror Show - US title)? I picked it up really cheap on VHS the other day. I saw it years ago when it first came out and didn't think it was very good (I thought it totally sucked to tell the truth). I was pleasantly suprised tho when I watched this again and ended up enjoying it heaps. Lance Henricksen and Brion James both have great rolls and give awesome preformances. This movie is esentially Wes Craven's Shocker (which at the time I liked better) but way more nasty, gorey and violent. I feel this is a far superior movie to the slick, overated and overblown Shocker (although Mitch Pelligi is brilliant as Horace Pinker - cracks me up everytime I watch it). In my opinion its one of the last slashers to have that really nasty sadistic edge that made so many of the 80s slashers so enjoyable. But yeh most people hate this film with a passion, but remember I did aswell so maybe its worth checking out again......
and on a side what ever happened to Brion James? He was a excellent villan who had some great roles in the 80s (Blade Runner, Tango & Cash, Crimewave the list goes on - he seemed to be in every action movie for awhile) I guess he's just slipped into B movie obscurity. Some one should snap him up for a truely sadistic role and introduce him to a new generation of fans.
