What if...?

No, this thread isn't about the short-lived (but very good) Marvel comic series.
I'ts about movies.

IF they could make any LIVE movies based on either videogames, books, cartoons or comics that you chose...what would those be?

**I'd love to see a Max Payne movie...perhaps incorporating the storyline of BOTH of the games into one very dark, gritty ,violent motherfucker of a movie.
I would look foward to seeing the "baseball bat", and some of the dream sequences on film, the flashbacks, the dry narrative and most of all, I'd like them to get the music right...

**I'd also like to see a movie series based on the book series "Artemis Fowl"...my little brother showed me these books, and they're really quite good.
A slightly villainous, but likeable lead character, kickass military squads of faerys.., and a really good storyline and moral...
I think they'd give Harry Potter a run for it's money.

**If they could somehow adapt "zombies ate my neighbours" into a comedy/action movie that would be awesome. I have no doubt this'd be rather hard to fit into a film...no doubt some of the elements would have to be left out, and a slightly bigger cast would be needed, but I think it could work with the appropriote effort. Yknow...a mars attacks style comedy...I can see Sean William Scott being in something like this, and perhaps Rachel Weisz...and hey if all else fails, they could adapt it into a fucking excellent cartoon series.

**A GOOD movie based on the Judge Dredd novel "Dread Dominion"....I guess you'd have to have read it to know why, but it is a very well written story, and would beat the everloving SHIT out of the drivel that was the last JD movie...

**I KNOW a half-life movie'd be the shit...and considering HL2 is so much in itse;f a different storyline, I see sequel potential too.
Think about it, it's not a storyline that'd make for a suckful movie...

That's all that's coming to mind right now....anyone else??

Yeah, this sounds silly but I'd like to see a movie based on the show "OZ"...same characters and all.

Oh, and the imbreded gerbils from the Quiznos adds need a variety show.

last time i saw a thread like this on another forum, my reply was :

War of the Worlds - done exactly as in the book .. only to find out seconds later that another modernized bullshit version was being done.

other than that .. there are a few more sci-fi novels that would have been impossible to do in the past that could be done now I'd like to see ..

For a while I've wanted to see a really big-budget feature done of "A Wrinkle In Time." Disney did a TV movie of it that wasn't half bad, actually; but it suffered at times from a slender budget (story was great, visuals looked skimpy here and there).

What if it was possible to make a good movie out of a Dean Koontz book? Id LOVE to see a Winter Moon adaption, I just finished reading it, and it was great. Or maybe another atempt at Watchers....nah, they've tried enough.

I agree with Cheeb on the Artemis Fowl note. They'd make great movies, although I havnt read the 3rd yet. On a similar note, The Theif Lord would be a crazy movie, could have a great dark atmosphere, some nift effects...and a crazy detective.

Darren Shan. As of last time I asked, noone here had heared of The Saga of Darren Shan books, but I think they'd make an awesome series of movies. They're about this teenage guy who, long story short, get turns into a vampire and joins a carnival of freaks. Supposedly, Warner Bros. bought the rights awhile back, but I havnt heared anything since I stopped posting at the Darren Shan forums. Shia LaBoef was rumored to be the lead...Heres what IMDb has to say:

Quote:
Warner Brothers (makers of the Harry Potter films) bought the movie rights to 'Cirque du Freak' and 'The Vampire's Assistant'[The 1st two books in the series] in a seven figure deal before they were even published.

Viewtiful Joe would make a good animated movie.....maybe.

Another Dog Soldiers anyone? I think they could make a great sequl to that....
