I've never seen Scrooged. I should do that.
I would watch Black Christmas, cause I love it, but it's on tv once a week from Halloween until Christmas. Looses it's fun after a while. Maybe I'll check out the remake. Obviously not as good as the original but is it any good?

I think that you should follow the ancient tradition of bedecking the proverbial Christmas Tree with candles by setting your roommates on fire.

Sounds great, Gore... You'll have to remind me and I'll try to stay up late to catch your show (I'm a bad Forum Stalker - I have YET to hear your show :p)... If I miss it - Post your results... We could make a thread out of this (I'm sure THAT'S never been done this time of year - ha)

Yes, yes you should see Scrooged. Oh, sweet Bill Murray in his goofy slapstick prime... Classic.

And as for the remake of Black Christmas, honestly I was impressed.

NOTE: I always have to say this; you might want to take my take with a grain of salt because I LOVE slasher films (as in, when my boyfriend says, "THIS HORROR FILM IS AMAZING," I have to take it with a grain of salt because he loves big gory monster movies... a bit more than I do)... I thought that the remake of Black Christmas was a GREAT slasher film... Definitely an archetypal slasher theme: Hot ladies being hunted down (setting is a sorority house with all of the sisters who stayed at school for the holidays)... The death scenes are delightfully brutal (not HUGELY gory, but enough to make me cringe).

That being said... The killer/twist "reveal" was a little LAME, to tell you the truth, and the end was so incredibly long, drawn-out, and elaborate that it negated what I thought was a REALLY well-made film.

I'd say, DEFINITELY check it out if you like slasher films... I'm pretty sure that Horror Fans panned it when it came out, but the first 3/4s of the film are definitely worth it, IMO.

...

Just turn it off before the end. ;)

I'd actually be interested in what other people think of the Black Christmas remake... The parts I liked, I REALLY liked... And so did my boyfriend... But I'm curious to see if people thought it was just cheesey.

I like the Crimbo concept, by the way MM... That's pretty spectacular... You need to post a pic of the woolly intimates... Are they available on mail order? ;)

LOVE Scrooged, definitely a must see at Christmas. :)

As far as the Black Christmas remake goes, its my absolute most hated remake ever. If you loved the original as much as I did, I would give it a great big pass. Completely absurb, and I believe, like many remakes these days, stomped all over everything that made the original great. Had one good death scene going for it, but that certainly didn't make up for the rest of that mess.

Yeah, I'm not a fan.....;)

Anyway, I'm sure we are going to be starting new traditions this year. our first Christmas together as a married couple. I know I plan to finally watch Silent Night, Deadly Night if I get a chance. Its been recommended to me for years, and this is the year, I think....:p I also HAVE to watch Scrooge (the Alastair Sim version that ChronoGrl , which is my favorite version of the tale ever) or A Christmas Carol (the version with Reginald Owen).

Yeah, I was wondering what people thought who had seen the original... I figured that it would be hated, but I wanted to hear from others who had seen it (the only person I know who has seen it is my Boy and he enjoyed it as well)... I'll definitely have to check the original film out... I'm a Slasher Sucker, so I didn't have a problem with the remake... Now I HAVE to add the original to my list.

Oooo... You brought up the Reginald Owen Christmas Carol... ANOTHER classic... Definitely comes after Scrooge for me (and I'm tickled that you even KNOW the Alastair Sim version... It's seriously one of my favorite movies of all time... especially this time of year).

...

BTW Congrats on your first married Christmas. :)

I was going to go shoot up a mall but now that would be terribly unoriginal so I'll have to think of some other way to spend christmas.

As far as traditional christmas viewing goes, basically just scrooged and black christmas.

I don't really have a Christmas thing...
Myself and the girl will more often than not spend it with her family, as mine lives pretty far away...just hang out with our people, make neccessary phonecalls to those we haven't caught up with, and friends who are themselves occupoed with family stuff...etc.
It's mainly a big cooking day...get up early, grab something for breakfast (we usually hit up a bakery for fresh croissants, then get back home and start at it.
Cooking, talking, drinking, music on.
Don't really do any movies, mainly just music and chatting, spending time together without too much AV interruption.
It's like the yearly catch-up, swapping recipes and ideas...etc.
At some point there'll be gifts exchanged I guess, but that's pretty much it.
Togetherness, and all that.

I just watched Elf.

"You're sitting on a throne of lies."

It's a new Christmas staple.

My wife and I don't have many traditions yet for Christmas, other than putting up the tree and decorating it together. Spending Christmas morning with her is absolutely the best though. One day there will be kids, but until then we get to spoil ourselves like mad!
