christmas plans?
anything fun and/or interesting going on during your holiday season?
any traditions you'd like to share?

i always like to spend this time getting ready for christmas by watching some of those oddball christmas movies, like:
santa claus conquers the martians
santa claus
silent night, deadly night
etc.

and of course, some of the regular classics, too.
i also enjoy some of the great holiday listening, like bing crosby, the rat pack, elvis, the ventures, and so on.

for christmas eve, i always head up home to chicago to spend the evening with my dad's side of the family, eating a bunch of awesome food and exchanging gifts.

on christmas day, i head back here to have christmas with my mom's side, and we usually go see a movie on christmas night. this year, it'll be sweeney todd.

I've got at least 4 family christmas parties to go to for my family and my boy's. I don't know when they are yet but I hope they don't overlap.

My friends and I celebrate Crimbo every year. We plan it for after Christmas so we can ditch our families. We basically drink a lot and burn a gingerbread house. Tradition, you know? We also give silly gag gifts. Last year I got a crothless thong, so I knit my friend a bra and panties for this year. Hope they're itchy.

Other than that, I watch all my old Christmas favourites like Marry Christmas Charlie Brown, Rudolph the Red Nosed reindeer, Frosty and Santa Claus is coming to Town.

first of all: crimbo sounds awesome.

probably the strangest gag gift i ever received was a marble nose statue. it was on a base like a bust of someone might be, but instead of a bust, it was just a giant nose.
really strange. i'll post a picture of it later, if i can find it.

and lastly, good luck with all of those parties! that's crazy.

I kick off the season with the Black Christmas/Silent Night, Deadly Night double feature every year at the Grindhouse Film Fest. It's a week from Tuesday and anyone NEAR Los Angeles should come out - it's a great night of fun

It'll be sad this year without Bob Clark, but John Saxon and Olivia Hussey will be there.

Those movies sound awesome... I've seen the Black Christmas remake, but not the original... I'll had to add those to my list...

My dad was always a HUGE Christmas Carol fan... We have at least 10 different versions at home... It's definitely a tradition to watch as many versions as humanly possible... My personal favorite "classic" version of A Christmas Carol is Scrooge (1951), starring Alastair Sim as Scrooge (I ALWAYS cry at the end when he approaches his niece-in-law and says, "Can you forgive a pig-headed old fool with no eyes to see with and no ears to hear with all these years?"). Also, my favorite quotes:

Portly Gentleman: At this festive time of year, Mr. Scrooge, it is more than usually desirable that we should make some slight provision for the poor and destitute, who suffer greatly at the present time.
Ebenezer: Why? Are there no prisons? Are there no workhouses?
Portly Gentleman: Many can't go there; and many would rather die.
Ebenezer: If they would rather die, they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population.

My favorite modern adaptation of A Christmas Carol:

Scrooged, starring the veritable Bill Murray.

My boyfriend and I got a mini Christmas tree today. It's the first time I've gotten a Christmas Tree with a boyfriend. :rolleyes: :D We decorated it with zombie ornaments.

No tradition this year... I'm in a new place, IT's all different, I'm not to sure how it will pan, out, I do have some ideas... but I must go now... I'm in a hurry.

I'm doing my regular tradition of finding a family and dumping a bunch of presents at someone's door.
I think I have narrowed it down:)

We will not be having family this year but are going to see some after Christmas.


So far we have watched ALL the ABC family shows including my favorite 'Rudolf The Rednose Raindeer.'
