I've never listened to Imus before (don't think he ever made it to the Minneapolis market) but I was always under the impression that he was sort of a Howard Stern-esque guy to begin with. Very crass & rude & obnoxious, big mouth, etc... Am I wrong?

Anyways, if he is as I thought, then his show has probably always been offending people. Why's this so different? And since when did "nappy headed hos" become a racist remark anyways?

When I heard what he had said, I thought it was a very "Imus" thing to say. I had to listen to him every mornign for about a year before i finally began going to work early and changing the station so i didnt have to. I found him an annoying hypocrit who couldnt take criticism, but really, what he said was just not that bad. If he had Robin (frm stern), he would be fine, because she would laugh and say "Oh you..." and that would have been it. Opie and Anthony could have gotten away with it too (most likely), but I think Mr Imus is a victim of Michael Richard's little tirade. That little incident made the already sensitive twits even more sensitive. AND, Mel Gibson set the stage for that as well.

That being said, Al Sharpton and ESPECIALLY Jesse Jackson need to shut their fucking hypocritical mouths.

I don't think it was the "racist" comment that got that guy fired, it was that and the fact that he called a women's basketball team "hoes".

If he had said "they suck at basketball" or whatever it would have been fine, but when you make derogatory remarks about something that a person has no control over (i.e. age, sex, race, religion, etc.) there will be consequences.

And that whole "it's okay if a black person calls another black person a nigga/nigger but if a white person does it it's racist" is so stupid. It's never okay to call a person a nigger and it doesn't matter what color skin anybody has. People who think it's okay to use that word are completely ignorant morons. Pick up a history book for christsake!
