Latest movies I have watched:
Unfriended
B- It was silly entertainment and I had to see what all the fuss was about. True Story A+ Awesome movie!! Two goofy actors did an incredible job playing serious roles. Insurgent A I really enjoyed this sequel and I felt it lived up to the series. Jurassic World A- I loved it!! I would be soooo geeked if they made rides like that, minus the man eating dinosaurs. Terminator: Genisys D Terrible. It sucked. Pass over it, way over it.

I thought the movie was pretty good, and what's wrong with the name Pfeifer? It's the name of the actress.

Too much dialogue for my taste. Heh, just kidding. Well made, well acted and very predictable indeed. I actually expected it to be more twisty. If the movie just wasn't so damn excruciatingly slow I would've given it an 8/10. But my god!! That's what happens when you only have material for half a movie. But lovely kids. ![]() 20 years later. ![]()

![]() ****SPOILERS**** Goodnight Mommy (2014) With one of the most genuinely frightening trailers I've seen in a long time and a distinctly Michael Haneke-style atmosphere, I had high hopes for Goodnight Mommy, and it was a little disappointing but not a complete misfire. Goodnight Mommy is an Austrian film about two twin boys who move back home with their mother after she finishes an intense cosmetic surgery. Unusually distant and abusive and wrapped up in bandages that completely cover her face, the boys start to suspect that it's not their mother underneath those bandages. The trailer makes it seem like a terrifying, subversive psychological horror film, but it's horribly misleading. Goodnight Mommy is instead a somber tale of grief and depression. I would be able to forgive that if it didn't descend into a nonsensical torture porn flick in the final act. The entire film, we're supposed to be lead to believe that this woman is not the boys' mother, but there is nothing substantial to make the viewer truly doubt her credibility. The boys just kinda figure that the woman isn't their mother and then start torturing her. The torture felt undeserved. It wasn't disturbing so much as it was just ugly to watch. There's also a plot twist where we realize that one of the boys is actually dead. It's pretty obvious from the first 15 minutes because the mother never interacts with one of the twins, and the dead twin has to whisper what he wants to say to the other boy so that he can say it. The thing that really frustrates me about this movie is how technically well made it is because I can't decide if this is a truly good movie or not. Even though the execution misses the mark, the direction, acting, cinematography and score are incredible. I'm not sure if I really liked this movie or not. This might be something that I revisit in the future.

Understand the frustration & can't much disagree with your complaints. The trailer, direction and the tone really gave us the high hopes and it had indeed the potential to be something more twisted & original. But I think they intentionally gave away that little twist at the beginning as there are similar movies about that sort of twist already and they only focused the psychology & point of view from Elias' part who is a guilt-ridden, troubled kid. I didn't mind the torture part but yeah...it could try a different route and play & twists more with Mom's character as well. Initially at one point I was just thinking she might be their crazy aunt (the twin sister of her mother) who thinks & claims she's the real mother of the kids OR may be someone, investigating in disguise about the sudden & mysterious disappearance of their real mother! ![]()

I'd go see that double feature! I saw Gingersnaps 1 & 2 when I was fairly younger... I don't recall liking them too much. The first I liked enough, but I remember the second boring me to tears. I most likely need to rewatch them though. Not fair to judge them on a vague memory. It did seem like that's what you meant, but that's okay. Thanks for clearing that up. 8)
