Gin Gwai (The Eye)
The movie starts out as a horror film, but the scares are mostly scattershot. Afterwards, the film transforms into a romance, drama, and mystery. It works much more as a tragic thriller because it is very heart-rending, engrossing, and suspenseful. Recommended for Asian cinema connoisseurs.
The scene in the elevator is a tough contender for scariest movie scene I've ever seen...wow, that was intense. 7/10

Ringu
Wasn't impressed by this one. It was completely ruined by the fact that there was hardly a creepy atmosphere like the remake. I also didn't like how the guy just so happened to have psychic powers in order to figure out where to go next, rather than do actual investigation.
4/10

 "Dark Tales of Japan" 5-6/10 A japanese horror anthology made by well known horror directors such as Takashi Shimizu (Ju-on), Masayuki Ochiai (Infection), K�ji Shiraishi (Noroi) etc. The stories are definitely more peculiar than scary and most of them either lack a climatic ending or the climax is just way too short. First story about the spider lady is by far the most satishfying.

ALTER EGO 2002
A photo shoot at a school goes all kinds of wrong for everyone involved. The school isn't creepy or deserted. Its probably just closed for the weekend and its a bright sunny day. Nice straight to the point story, pleasing special effects and not as much long black hair as you'd think.
