You're not understanding me. I like some character and story development before I'm thrust headfirst into a story. Take a little time to acclimate me to the characters and set up the plot or else im not going to be interested.

Its not just a personal preference. Its good storytelling. Besides I did mention that, you just didn't understand me

By the time the mirror started showing what it does, I thought the characters' motives and personalities were extremely easy to grasp and understand, and the story was also pretty well set-up.
