Jinn
Here's a trailer for the upcoming horror feature JINN from Exxodus Pictures.
Quote:
A car known as the Firebreather was created for the film. The car was unveiled to the public at the Autorama in Detroit on Friday, February 26, 2010. The car was designed by Ajmal Zaheer Ahmad, the film's director. It's a modified 5th generation Chevrolet Camaro. ![]() ![]() So far from this teaser trailer, bit confusing thing here for me is they gave a kind of "human" look to that Jinn. As far I've heard yeah...Jinns can take some times human form to manipulate the humans but there's actually no particular description of their look or physical appearance other than they are made of smokeless flame or "scorching fire". I like to wait & see to see how they are going to explore these things in the film. Though may be mostly commonly known in the Islamic cultures but IMO...Jinn can be a pretty interesting concept for the genre fans IF handled properly. We used to hear lots of Jinn encounter & possession stories specially in the rural parts of the country that somewhat later turned into "Horrifying Folklore Tales" here. Though I can't recall all of them properly but it used to gave the people good amount of creeps back in those days. Perhaps being in a so called Islamic country & being into "devoted" in regular religious practices many people strangely even don't want or like to talk about 'them' freely. Btw, Horror master Tobe Hooper is also making a film on Jinn mythology that will take place in and be shot on location in Abu Dhabi. A press release says the picture is a unique new take on the haunted house thriller uncovers the dark truth behind classic fairytale of the Jinn and tells a story about the nightmarish story of a young Emirati couple who return home from the U.S. and discover that their new apartment in a luxury high-rise built on the site of an abandoned fishing village is also home to the malevolent beings known as Djinn. David Tully wrote the script, and UAE short film director Nayla Al Khaja will be on hand as a local consultant and sort of feature director in training.
