Copycat Killer?
Has anybody here heard of a Murderer taking their love of a movie way too far and wearing the killer's Suit/Mask and whatnot? Ive heard of things similar but nothing like a real life copycat killer from the movies.

One instance of somebody killing someone with a Freddy glove, I believe, but for the most part. Stuff like that doesn't happen in general, though because horror tends to provide a degree of catharsis and serial killing is about an inability to attain satisfaction of one kind or another. The behavior your talking about shows an ability to appreciate something and connect to it, a spark of sanity and humanity that most people who kill are going to lack. Killing is a last resort. It's in human nature but it's usually not the first thing someone comes up with to do for enjoyment. You try everything, you don't connect, so you do the last, most desperate thing.

I read in the newspaper quite a while ago about a man who would dress up as a Xenomorph from the 'Alien' films and repeatedly headbutt people in their stomachs until they died or got slightly irritated and told him to go away.
In fairness, he had to explain what he was doing to the police. His costume wasn't all that good. It was basically just a black morphsuit and a prosthetic penis sellotaped onto the back of his head. I'm sure it was quite an irritating ordeal for his innocent victims, mind.

There was one guy who thought he was Freddy Krueger as well as inspired by Friday 13th. Daniel Gonzalez in the UK killed someone with a Jason Vorhees style hockey mask I believe. Was deemed to be insane and sent to Broadmoor, where he tried to commit suicide by biting himself... think he slit his wrists eventually. Absolutely crazy.
I've never heard of the glove one, though it wouldn't surprise me. |
