stupid unorigional story
terrible dialogue and voicework

but absolutely gorgeous as far as the design and animation goes.
50's retro with an alien twist (based on the circle)

Absolutely amazing film - when i recover from the effects I'll write a proper review...

Put my faith back in to cheesey 80's horror and Irish priests.

OH also watched Paranormal Activity yesterday.

It was decent enough for what it was and built up well but was totally ruined by fuckers in the cinema who can't keep quiet for 90mins. The lack of music really compacted this too...

I was fuming when i left the cinema.

i had the same problem

saw it at 3:30 in the afternoon - thought the theatre would be quiet.

had a line of about 8 20 year olds behind me that were talking and making noise...

2 girls in front of me looking at pictures on their camera phone and talking,

and an over the hill biker couple 5 seats to my left where the old skank was complaining about the film not being scary for the entire movie.

still loved the movie - but the experience sucked

Midnight Cowboy (1969). There is no really great story per say here, but instead a realistc snapshop of a couple of schmucks trying to get by in the squalid New York of the 60s. The acting was superb, with Voight and Hoffman complementing each other perfectly. This is a tale of a codependent friendship born of naivete and deceit. The direction was awesome, with appropriate uses of flashback and fantasies to help establish the inner character of each of our antiheroes. Definitely not a feel good flick, this is one of the best movies made in its time, if not one of the best ever made. Ashe.

Then, it kind of melts into a sloppiness of half-baked intellect and genre conventions. Even so, it still remains interesting throughout. Definitely worth a watch for some fresh ideas, great pacing, and solid performances.
We are watching this right now, because of your post :p

We're about halfway into it, and I have to ask you if you've seen 'Dead Air' (with Bill Mosely)...We watched Dead Air last week, and so far it is extremely similar to Pontypool...Honestly, I like Dead Air more, so far...If you haven't watched it, check it out.

I prefered Pontypool but i wasn't mad about the wierd explanation (though it was origianl) - the DJ in Pontypool reminded me so much of Lance Hendrikson.

I am pretty even tempered but I imagine if i ever go to jail it will be over an incident in a cinema :-)

the director is bruce macdonald - a canadian treasure. i love his films (although i havent seen this one yet (but i do own it)

the actor stephen mchattie (sp ?) reminds me of frank gorshin

Paranormal Activity.

Should be called no activity, seriously, this film was so dull for the most part it was unbelievable. Think of a Blair Witch project set in Suburbia in order to make more people stay awake at night. However, on the other hand, it's particularly good for such a small budget. However, I don't think it'll survive long alongside some of the big wigs.
