The Hills Run Red

'Don't judge a book by the cover..' I remember those words my daddy told the night he came home from this weekly clan meeting.

Well this is what you have to do with this low budget potboiler - forget the generic DVD cover and the Hills have Eyes type title. easier said then done but sometimes I watch a nice little film like this and I'm very forgiving.

Nerdy film Student trys to track down the director of some obscure slasher - hooks up with directors daughter (whose is now a stripper) and with usual crew head out to the backwoods to try find the last known location of the auteur (played by the always great William Sadler).

There some very predictable twists but it has a good looking Killer and some nice 'film with in a film' parts which I always love. Even the dialogue shines in a place or two 'I hate actors who think they can director too!! - And for the record CGI still sucks!! i guess I've ruined this film for you by actually saying i liked it too..

On a side note why does some much DVD/poster artwork look the same these days..

*Uses Destress and Bleach Bypass filter on thread.....

The first act dragged a bit and there are sections that strain credulity, but the last 20 minutes more than make up for it with a gleefully brutal series of events.

Babyface is a horrific creature and Sadler is demonic and charming. Really fun film! Not genius, but a solid slasher.:D

I tried soooooo hard to enjoy this film, but to no avail...

Granted, slasher/goregy films do absolutely nothing for me, but I was drawn in by the doll-faced killer who had a very unsettling appearance and I thought to myself "Maybe... just maybe, this could be decent". Oh my, was I wrong...

Cartoony violence, weak acting, rough editing, predictable plot "twists"... The only saving grace was Janet Montgomery's sex scene... very, um, realistic ().

...see it if you must, but it isn't all that great. The premise was ok, but needs some serious directorial talent to pull it off.
