Help me find this horror movie

I showed my bro-in-law "Horror Express" with its scene of the monster's eye retaining images of what it had seen. Bro-in-law said he remembered some other movie where a decapitated head is mounted and a light projected through its eyes to see images from the eyes, or something like that. Anybody know what movie he might have been referring to?

Four Flies on Grey Velvet involves projecting the final image from a dead man's retina in order to find a clue as to his killer. The title refers to what he saw.

from Wikipedia
Within a major point, as a plot device, a technique was used within the movie to give a clue to the killer, where up to a few hours after death the image of the last image seen is burned into the retina

this is the movie you are looking for.

Hey...since this discussion involves such things...wasn't there a bit in "The Invisible Ray" featuring this idea? Lugosi is murdered and they examine his eyes to find an image of Boris Karloff burned into them, for example, thus identifying the killer?
