I'd like to say that I would contact the police, but I'm not so sure. I might very well be tempted to think it was a hoax, which is a shame because I've read enough true crime stuff to know that things like that can happen.

There is so much bullshit on the internet that you'd really need something specific and explicit to go to the cops. Pictures and direct threats would be ideal. Not to mention you need to know an approximate location in which to call the cops - there are no interweb police, although a threat communicated interstate might involve the FBI, I don't know how much interest they'd show. Best to grab some screenshots on a flash disk and go down to the local field office. And have a moderator trace his/her IP. You need compelling evidence that a crime is about to be or has been committed. Not just some kid posting "ZOMG im gunna kill u!!11"

Hypothetically speaking:
I don't think that the fact someone made a thread on here, stating they killed someone, etc. would detur me from coming on and posting more afterward. It wouldn't be the BOARD's fault for someone posting shit like that. I assume that said member wouldn't be a member for much too long after doing so anyway.
