Train Driver, well paid and surprisingly enjoyable job.

Chrono, I took a leap and completely changed careers in 2001. I was a paint development chemist for three years prior to my current job and whilst I liked the people I worked with, the job was shit. I used to say I got paid (poorly) to watch paint dry! Prior to that I spent three years analysing mining samples for precious metal content. So all I knew were chemistry based jobs which were ok but career wise they were dead ends. I went for a job on the railway as it was a complete change of direction with prospects for future advancement.

Sometimes you just need to look at jobs you wouldnt really consider if you want a fresh start.

Working in a chemical manufacturing plant (producing Precipitated Calcium Carbonate and Hydrated Lime) for the last 5 years, currently holding the position of Senior Executive, HR & Finance but recently the top management ensures that they will promote me as the Deputy Manager as soon as the production begins at our new plant for Sulfuric Acid & LABSA (Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulfonic Acid:confused: ). I guess I'll have to wait for another 2 to 3 months.

I'm quite satisfied with my job...I have a nice boss who is the Managing Director and also I need to report time to time direct to our Chairman of the company who is one of the prominent Industrialist of BD. They were very nice human beings and I'm glad for getting the opportunity to work with them. Though the salary here is a bit let down in comparing to others working in different national or multinational organizations (including banks, telecommunication companies etc.) but there the job pressure plays a major role behind the factor of getting a handsome amount of money at the end of the month.

Right now, nothing.
Going into security shortly, going to be moving towards some dog work to see me through the rest of my companion animal certification.
Security work should get me (since I'm only doing p/t while studying) about 35k, when that becomes dog handling it'll be about 45, 55 or so if I go full time.
Then after a few years and some outside volunteer work, I'll be taking a pay cut to (hopefully) work as an RSPCA inspector.

Who is your daddy, and what does he do?

we get 6 credits free a year - i was thinking about doing gradute work adn took some classes but just never found something i was passionate about studying so i just take the occassional class - including some good classes on film, horror, gothic literature, etc.

and yes - it is tough to get in - in fact the problem here is that most people who live in this area want to work for the college - pay sucks but good benefits - so whenver they want they can let someone go and know that there will be tons of applications. so i keep my head down and play good little worker and haven't been let go yet (yet)
