Across 110th Street
A kick-ass, violent crime drama/blaxploitation flick that delivers the goos in a major way. Yaphet Kotto, Anthony Quinn, Tony Fanciosca and the always entertaining Antonio Fargas all chew up the scenery and elevate this movie from typical to awesome. If you dig 70s crime drama you will absolutely love this film. None of the characters are one-dimensional, they all struggle with their own demons and no action is without consequnce. 8.5/10

My Bloody Valentine (remake) ~ surprisingly, I enjoyed it, its not just great or anything, but its a lot of fun.
Cemetery Gates ~ I should have known better when I saw the words "From the Producers of BOO" across the top of the DVD case....:p Okay, so as much as I wanted to LOVE this movie since its about a genetically mutated Tasmanian devil.....which is just....awesome....;) I found it to be almost unwatchable. But the monster was hilarious and the gore scenes were really kind of funny as well. |

Let's Scare Jessica to Death (1971)
An eerie, low budget paranoia-fest with a catchy title that I have been waiting to see for quite a long time. Effectively creepy, even the broad daylight captured an unsettling & haunting tone in this underrated 70's Horror gem. >>: A The Last Horror Movie (2003) ![]() A decent low budget treat for the fans of serial killer sub genre. Liked it, the guy on the lead did a good job with the role. >>: B- The Escapist (2009) ![]() Frank Perry (Brian Cox) is a long term prisoner in a London jail where the guards look the other way and one would be wise to avoid the attentions of Rizzo (Damian Lewis), the boss inmate and his unhinged junkie brother Tony (Steven Mackintosh). Perry receives the first letter from his family in fourteen years. His daughter is a heroin addict and close to death. Perry decides he must get out, to see her and make things right while there is still time. He goes to his closest friend Brodie (Liam Cunningham) and they enlist on-the-edge pugilist and thief Lenny Drake (Joseph Fiennes) to put together their plan. A slow burn but intense British prison break movie with good casts. Though it's not only delivers the 'prison break' suspenseful content, you'll find something more at the end. Recommended. >>: B+

Army of Darkness
Cronenberg's Crash Smokin' Aces then todayy scream Channel is having an Evil Dead Marathon so I watched: Evil Dead Evil Dead II Watching Army of Darkness again after ED2 is over. Then tonight I'm seeing Drag me to Hell and will post my thoughts later. I have had suggestions to just continue watching Sam Raimi movies when I get home, and I just might so that. I'm stoked.
