Alien vs. Predator: Requiem star Steven Pasquale has promised fans that the sequel to Paul W.S. Anderson's 2004 film will be a more terrifying experience than its predecessor.

"[We're] trying to get back to the basics [with] the suspense and the gore," Pasquale informed MTV.com. "I think it's going to be really fun. [Directors] Colin and Greg Strause really know what they're doing in terms of a sort of true-blue monster movie."

MTV reveals that Pasquale's role is that of "Dallas" (no relation to Tom Skerritt's character from Alien). "[He's] our convict who returns home to his small town in Colorado to find Aliens and Predators," the actor explained.

He added, "Haven't we always wondered what would happen if they made it to Earth? [Well] now they have, and drama ensues. It's more about survival. Clearly we don't know what the hell these things are, so me and my little brother and a couple of the other main characters are trying to just get out of town with everything intact, and that's the journey rather than trying to sort of conquer the invincible monsters."

Alien vs. Predator: Requiem is slated for a Christmas '07 release.

btw, for those who could not see the official poster, here it is :-

I personally think this will be much better than #1. It is sounding better and better, is rated R, and the trailer and poster kicks ass! What more could anyone want from an A v P movie?:D

Twentieth Century Fox’s ALIENS VS. PREDATOR – REQUIEM (AVP-R) sees the iconic creatures from two of the scariest film franchises wage their most brutal battle ever -- in our own backyard.

AVP-R directors Colin and Greg Strause (aka The Brothers Strause) weren’t content to just have the Alien and Predator battle it out in a small Colorado town , they decided to up the terror ante by giving birth to a creature new to the long-running franchise: the Predalien.

The Predalien’s film debut, along with its look, has long been the subject of much fan speculation, and tight security has surrounded the creature’s concept and design. Now, its secrets are unleashed.

The creature is not really a Predator/Alien hybrid. It’s an Alien that incubated inside a Predator, taking on some characteristics of the host body. (“It’s about 80 percent Alien, 20 percent Predator” say the filmmakers.) It has the Alien’s exoskeleton, acid blood, scorpion-like tail and inner tongue/striking mouth. On the Predator side, it has an additional Predator-like mandible, and an Alien-ized version of Predator “dreadlocks.” More significantly, its Predator DNA has changed the Alien’s method of procreation – instead of the creature’s traditional Queen – egg – face-hugger – chest-burster – adult cycle, the Predalien regurgitates chest-burster embryos… into the mouths of their victims.

There will be no peace on Earth when AVP-R lands in theaters worldwide!

I don't even remember what happens in the first one, but this one looks ace. I think the R rating helps

I agree that the first AVP was pretty average. Speaking of average that promo poster looks exactly that to me. With an R rating, it has to get at least an MA rating here. I will go and see this at the cinema when it is released.
