The Quiet. 08/10

I rented this movie thinking it would be another steamer from Elisha Cuthbert, ala The Girl Next Door. Boy was I in for a surprise!

The movie is one of the most surreal, disturbing and deeply atmospheric ones I have seen in recent times. Elisha turns in a really powerful portrayal of a psychologically disturbed teen, and alongwith Camilla Belle, tightly grips this movie from start to finish.

I cannot say much about the plot because it has quite a few twists and turns throughout, but let me say this much...this movie is not for the ordinary viewer. Some will find it slow, some others will find it weird...others might feel repulsed...but this is a set of images which will touch a raw cord, a raw nerve somewhere in your body.

Highly recommended for people who loved Requiem for a Dream and Session 9 -esque movies. For others, especially pre-20 normal-life leading teens, this is better left alone...this was a sure-fire contender for the "Visually Challenging 100" in terms of pure psychology ripping alone.

Recommending to alky, Moth, Despare, Return, Roderick, swiss tony, Doc Faustus, newb, et al. (No Posh...this one is not for you, trust me on this)

Blood and Chocolate

It seems it's rather difficult to make a good horror movie with anything less than an R rating. This PG-13 film is no exception. The CGI tranformations looked lame. The characters were bland. The ending sucked. No gore at all. There was not much going for this one...

Watched about half of the Libertine. Got bored, found something alse to do. It is slow and meandering, and REALLY boring past the first 20 minutes, which is a huge shame, because the stylism in it is awesome (they gave everything a darkened, green tone, and the entire movie is grainy, like a turn of the century film from the early 1900s) And, well, Its Johnny Depp, so of course he was excellent, but the movie itself was just dull.
