I like houses that are higher up, maybe have two exits with one being a door conected to a "mud room" and the other off a deck. It would be easy to bar the one door, fill the mudroom FULL of stuff, and then bar the next door making getting through the room impossible. Then you cut the deck stairs off with a sawzall (quick and easy to do) so you have access to the deck and from there the roof. Also, the windows would be too high for anything to get into even one on top of the other (but boarding for safety is ideal). A unicorn is also the ideal transportation. ;)

People put waaay too much thought into this...

That's not good... especially if I were the zombie.

I guess I need to put more thought into it so I wouldn't be a zombie... :p

I'd just let my cat loose. Annii can take anything. She killed my left hang when she had kittens a couple weeks ago... Couldn't move my thumb at all. Deep cuts.
She'd mutalate the fuck out of the undead... then all I'd have to do is throw something at them or something. Knock them immoble.
Or just set them on fire.
I'm going to come up with new ways to kill zombies. Make a show out of it.
I'll make millions.
I'll be a crypt keeper. :D

From the deck you go to the roof, rope ladder, more than one person so there's always somebody there to pull the ladder back up and provide cover as you go for food/supplies.

Well this is based on a house and neighborhood I know. You get down in groups, go through stores, other house, etc... there's at LEAST 5 grocery stores within 10 mins (including two big ones) and lots of houses around. That means a lot of zombies to fight off but ALSO a lot of food around for the smart gatherer. Not only that but most of the people around are white collar workers who commute every day quite a distance and if the zombies follow their dying memories a lot of them will probably head away from the town. Not only that but there are lots of deer, rabbit, and other game animals around.

The animals in the woods? I doubt that... if that happens then the Eart is doomed anyway.

I would just build a medium sized fortress, with special engineering to make it zombie prrof, with defense mechanisms, like the main gate is about 20 feet concave with walls on opposite sides, so people could snipe out windows TOWARD the gate if they get too close. Electrical wires that we could lay out on the ground at the perimeter, powered by batteries, that would give them a shock if they tried to come near. Flamethrower windows to set them ablaze, slowly burning them to death, etc.

The house I mentioned is already a place that exists... it would be tough to build under attack.
