let's give it a shot:

"Relentess" and "Rant In E Minor" by Bill Hicks
Lenny Bruce @ Carnegie Hall
Lewis Black-The White Album
Sam Kinison-Live From Hell

and i dunno if they have comedy albums out, but if they do, try anything by stephen wright or patton oswalt

I really like your picks. I have the Patton Oswalt stand up album and I can honestly say that I listened to it in it's entirety without so much as chuckling. the other stuff that you mentioned is really good, though.

I really think you should give Patton another chance. Maybe that album didn't have his best material.

To me, he always comes up with the goods

I don't know. It seemed pretty cheesy. I also listened to an album by some dude named Jim Gaffigan and had the same response. Also, b/c I know he is pretty popular, I'm not too impressed with Dane Cook. His cd's have had bits that made me laugh pretty good, but it's a lot more miss than hit for me. Very inconsistent....

hate dane cook. love jim gaffigan

are you aware of jim gaffigan's "Pale Force" series on nbc.com? Him and Conan O'Brian fight crime with their paleness and they shoot laser sunlight out of their nipples and stuff. It's really cool!

Bill Hicks is my first choice, Dylan Moran gets a mention, and an old favorite is Rodney Rude, p.s Stephen Wright!

Bill Hicks (I miss him)
Mitch Hedburg (I miss him)
Louis Black is extremely funny
Rowan Atkinson
Sara Silverman (fuck all y'all's moms for not mentioning her:D ;) )
Bill Cosby's old records are really funny and his show: Bill Cosby Himself (that's about all of his stuff that's funny, and I don't know why I find it amusing)
Chris Rock is funny sometimes, because I think he's just being honest.
Dave Chapell had his moments
Ellen Degeneres is actually funny live
Paula Poundstone was funny in her day.

I guess it depends on what type of humor I'm in for.

Good list, and i have found all of them funny at one time.

i think Ellen Degeneres is hilarious, she just gets a bad rap.

Ill never forget, YEARS before she came out, i worked with a girl named Perry who was a hardcore feminazi lesbian. She was always looking for a fight in the name of being oppressed. she told me ellen degeneres was a lesbian, and my reaction was "So? she's funny and doesnt make it an issue, apparently. what's your problem with it?"

She didnt like me :)
