The most recent news is that Depp will be playing Wonka. He has said that if Marilyn Manson changes his mind and asks for the part, he'll step down. But since that hasn't happened yet, Johnny is Wonka.

I liked this movie a lot. It had a great cast and a great director. It also was not a strait forward horror movie. When I first saw the trailer I thought it was going to be a slasher. Boy was I surprised, Tim Burton did not let me down:)
