A Christmas Story...I'm not sure why, but we just HAVE to watch that one.

Nightmare Before Christmas...I ALWAYS catch myself singing 'Making Christmas' when I'm wrapping presents and decorating...It happens automaticly...The kids tease me about it.

The Grinch Stole Christmas...Always been one of my favorites, ever since I was a little kid.

Alex watches Ernest Saves Christmas and Christmas Vacation over and over again...Seriously, every day at Christmas time...

Seri used to be hung up on The Christmas Toy...She would sing the songs.

Noel is pretty cool, too...Seri had named one of our red, round glass ornaments 'Noel' when she was a little girl because of that movie. She still remembers it when we put it on the tree.

Ouch sorry.......

the usual suspects...Christmas Vacation, Christmas Story, old Miracle on 34th st., White Christmas, and Its a Wonderfule Life....same with Halloween, its the BnW classics that really appeal to me for family movie watching....been thinking of turning our game rrom into a movie room...anyone done this (not necessarilly transformed the game room) but made a theater room?

Well, the Alastair Sim version of "A Christmas Carol," for starts. That gets put in once or more than once. Laurel and Hardy's "March of the Wooden Soldiers" ... even though it's not a "great" movie it has a nice feeling to it, so that gets a spin around the old VCR.

Charlie Brown specials if I can get 'em.

And always some monster movies..."King Kong" has been popular with me for Thanksgiving because it used to play on TV on Thanksgiving, year after year. And I try to watch zombie movies over the holidays, this is very important, and they have to be really cool and gnarly ones. Zombie films and holidays for me go together very well. The combination has a warm and friendly feeling.

I can never get enough of "A Christmas Story". It plays on Christmas day for 24 hours straight. I even own some of the "action" figures and a string of "Leg Lamp" lights!
And for October, nothing says Halloween like the movie "Halloween"! It's a classic.

for anyone who likes A Christmas Story (and I do)

try to find Phantom of the Open Hearth. also by Jean Shepherd
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0202527/

this predates A Christmas Story.

it features Ralphy and his family when Ralphy is coming of age ..
made for TV in 1976 - it is incredibly hard to find. But worth it - it's hilarious.
actually much funnier than A Christmas Story

Oh yes!...I never really could understand why I loved these, on Christmas AND Halloween...They always made me feel 'warm' and kinda happy (oh god, how lame is THAT?! :D...But, I don't even care because it's true)...

I honestly think it's because when I was little, we didn't have 24 hour cartoons...We only had Saturday morning cartoons until noon, and some that were on early in the morning before I had to leave for school...The Charlie Brown specials were on at NIGHT...It was very special...Completely dark outside, with the livingroom lit up in an orange/red, soft technicolor glow, that only a cartoon can make...It was very comforting, yet exciting at the same time...
