You missed the part where Goth chicks to a one have no self esteem, so right afterwards, you get 30 phone numbers from girls who will let you donkey punch them if you'll tell them they're pretty.

I think goths are generally a little misunderstood....I mean, I'm not saying I know enough of 'em to make any kind of definitive statements here, but from the...lets see...five goths I've met, I've gathered that.
a: They're not all suicidal depressives
b: They're not all antisocial "if you're not a goth, fuck you" cunts.
c: They don't all think they're poets, and actually seldom quote Poe.
d: Their wardrobes aren't actually filled with black only.
e: SOME of them are actually pretty nice people...actually, all but ONE of them that I've met, who was a stuck up little bitch in general, little rich girl who let the parents pay for all her gear  , but she was the exception...our friendship ended because I didn't hate the same people she did.

But either way...it's unfortunate, that a lot of them seem to be a little pre-judged on the basis of the little we see of them (no offence at all intended, but maybe the girl cleaning her car was just thinking "shit...another couple of people staring at me, probably talking about me...etc...maybe trying to be as non-reactive as possible,...maybe not)...I mean, sure, I used to think that goths were a pretty weird bunch, the hating, self loathing, cutting types, but I've met a few in college, and at work, since...
From my own take, the ones that are all "woe is me, pvc", snobby, put shit on other groups, cut themselves, go on about death and darkness (eg - the girl I referred to above as the stuck up little bitch), the whole "I don't care" act, well...to me those are the ones that come across as big fucking "try hards", and I'm not sure about this, but I'd think that these posers would pretty much also get laughed at by the rest of the goth "community", I mean, it's pretty easy to tell the difference between a person who's into the general lifestyle (eg art, clothing, architecture, music scene, the traditional, not just the neo) to the "LOOKIT ME, I'M GOTH" ones that are trying it on for a while, probably to piss off their parents, the ones that think an "attitude" has to come attatched.

The sad thing is...the reason "normal" people probably have these preconceptions about goths, is more than likely because "group B" now makes up the majority...but, not all Germans are nazis, right?
Just thought I'd throw in, and say that a lot of the perceptions around the place can be not quite complete...not saying "get out there and go meet some goths" neccessarily, just that I have...5, not many, but enough to have changes my views somewhat.

that's funny because I know a bunch of goths and they are all pretty much walking stereotypes.

I don't know, it's no sillier than those suburban white kids who dress and talk like they grew up in Bedford stuyvesant. Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

you're right - and if there was a website where you could go and specifically date hundreds of thousands of suburban white kids who dress and talk like they grew up in Bedford stuyvesant - i'd think that was pretty damn funny too :)

I just see this image of a huge crowd of people and they're all waiting to be next. No, me, me! Do me next! I am the most interesting! I am the least interested!

It's like seeing a hundred Agent Smiths but it's hundreds of thousands of people with eyeliner and pale skin. Like an ocean of reanimated corpses, each one holding a little ticket like at the bakery.
