zombie attack..what would you do....

It got me thinking.... every once in a while I find myself seriously contemplating what I would do if/when the dead return to eat our tastey brain. 'zombie attack' thread sparked it off again....so, what would you do, in say in first 24 hour of finding out.

I live kind of in the middle of nowhere. Woods all around, no neighbors in sight, and a half hour drive to town. I'd call the few people i'd care to save and could fit and have them come here. Then it's off for supplies. Gas, gas generater, batteries, flash lights, small propane stove, propane, other camping type gear, and lots of canned and dry foods. Hit the hardware store for wood, nails, etc.... Maybe firearms..... If I have the time and space get books and other reading materials, it's going to be boring sitting around the house....
Then sit back and watch the world come to an end....

...and you....

You think you'd have time to go shopping while a zombie uprising is going on? If you really wanna be prepared, you'd better get all of that stuff ahead of time because I can guarantee you that the second it happened hardware & gun stores would be the first places looted. If you plan on making a few phone calls and then driving a half hour to the store, you'd get there to find it empty. (Or at least looted out of everything you just named.)

First thing I'd do... (And I'm well prepared because I own The Zombie Survivial Guide.) is plug all the drains in the house and start running water in every sink, tub, shower, jug, etc... Because once that water goes down, it won't be coming back up. Second thing I'd do would be fortify the windows & doors to the exterior of the home. And thirdly, I'd devstroy my staircase and start using a ladder immediately because if and when the zombies came through my front door (or windows) I want to have at least one more line of defense. So I'd trash the staircase ahead of time, then when they come through, I'd pull the ladder upstairs with me, the wife & the dog and then it's time to start shooting from above.

Eventually, I'd run out of ammo and they'd be able to climb up the pile of dead zombies and get to us OR we'd kill them all OR the military would get them.

In any event my order of operations would definately go water, doors & windows, staircase.

grab my pack (which is usually all ready to go and contains dehydrated food for a few weeks and a water filter) and shotgun and head for the mountains - can't imagine romero-esque zombies doing very well on the steep trails . . . plus there's plenty of water and food (if you know what to eat and what to avoid)

Probably do like Zero. I'd grab all of my firearms and blades and get on the move. Even if you stay in one secure place for awhile, eventually something is going to happen to make it dangerous. I wouldn't want to have my back to the wall. And besides, unless they are like the creatures from 28 Days Later, they can't move worth a damn.

hmmm..... probably pack up the family and head up to Mt Washington and park one of the buses across the road. should take care of any zombie sneak attacks. Plus, with all th efood by the coast, i dont see many people or dead people heading inland.

As long as they are the slow mindless zombies I think I would love this to happen. Get the weapons out, and have one fun time! :D

Your local school is another great place to hole up for self defence.

Schools are basically built like prisons, have food & first aid available and usually provide a rather unobstructed view of the surroundings - giving you great line-of-sight for picking off the undead.

Reminds me, need to make a trip to Osh for a new machete:eek:

Well, I'm asssuming that zombies are not yet rampant, and that most people won't really believe it at first unless they've seen it themselves.
I also own The Zombie Survivial Guide. A great book.....
Water...how did I miss that....

Load everything in the Bronco and head for Desolation Wilderness. Or even up the Rubicon.....that would be perfect actually. Zombies+mountains=dead zombies. The mountain lions would have a buffet.
