Watch the casablanca one, it's just like the movie!
I actually thought the Casablanca one was one of their weaker adaptions. It was definatly good, but not as close to the movie as their earlier ones like The Shining or Titanic.

The Flintstones [1994]

Why does this film get such a slagging? Sure, it's flawed in some ways, but it's just so much fun! I'll start with the casting, which has it's ups and downs. John Goodman was born to play Fred; he did an incredible job. On the other hand, Rick Moranis didn't make for a great Barney. He was OK, but just didn't seem to fit the part. I'm not even going to get in to how awfully cast Rosie O'Donnell was. The other characters, such as Wilma's mother or the villain, Cliff, were all well cast and did great. Oh, and Harvey Korman as the Dictabird was easily one of the highlights.

The style of Bedrock translates perfectly to the screen, and looks amazing. Just like the cartoon come to life, they did a great job.

The only real downfall of this film is the plot. Sure, the cartoon always had kind of cheesy plots, but this takes the mud-pie. Essentially it's just a formulaic spin on Greek tragedy, complete with catharsis and all that fun stuff. Fred as a tragic hero? Bad idea.

When it comes down to it though, this is A lot of fun. Lots of laughs, great sets, great effects and (some) great acting. Definitely worth a watch.

7.5/10

Hitch ..

was tired, my wife was pissed off at me so i though I'd better put on a light comedy to try and save my ass ..

as it was i had fun with the movie dispite really disliking the woman in the lead role.

the chemistry between the 2 male leads was what made the film.

definately some laughs in there ... and every now and then i can use a 'feel-good' ending - no matter how goofy.

Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang
I didn't expect this one, don't get me wrong I liked the preview in the theaters a while back but I thought this movie would be completely different. There was some well done action, lots of dark comedy, and the cast really did an amazing job of pulling it all together with some great acting and undeniable wit. I liked the fact that this movie didn't think that the audience watching it was stupid, that really impressed me. Anyway, it's a fun little noir film that I think most people can enjoy from the avid movie fan to the casual viewer. I'd say this one was at least an 8/10.

"Perry: No! The definition of idiot. Which you fucking are!"

Afterward I watched Rat Race which is still fun to watch but always makes me want to pop in It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World.

i loved that line ..

what i liked was its unpredictability.
i guess you could say that its being unpredictable was becoming predictable itself .. but who cares - it was fun.

no biggie not to agree with everyone ..
its a shame because you invested money in it and didnt enjoy it - maybe because of your expectations ..

maybe wait a month then watch it again ..it sometime happens to me where i'll like it much better the 2nd time becuae my expectations changed.

it may not work for you but its worth a shot since you bought it..

zombie and the beast of bray road

over the weekend i watched fulci's "zombie" and the low-budget werewolf flick, "the beast of bray road." i was a little disappointed w/ zombie, probably b/c there is a lot of hype surrounding this movie. for the time period the gore affects were pretty decent (the eye impaling scene is classic). and the scene where the zombie battled the bull shark is insane (i hope they paid that actor good money b/c he could have been killed). other than that the movie lacked in the acting department (the dubbing added to that) and the plot was a little thin. the nudity helped add some filler, but didn't improve the movie any. you do have to acknowledge this movie as a zombie classic and in the end the gore and steady camera work make this a good watch.

"the beast of bray road," is an effective werewolf movie b/c it knows what it is: a low budget creature flick. it wasn't scary but had a good mix of blood, gore, and nudity (all things you expect from this kind of movie). the werewolf was a guy in a suit which looked like a cross between big foot and the wolf man. i was surprised by the end of the movie which catches you off guard. all in all it was a fun campy horror movie, worth a rent even if you're not a big fan of the genre.

The Mummy

damn I forgot about this cheesy fun-filled joyride. The effects are more than decent, and the cgi was really great. All things said and done, the damn one-liners by the cast esp Brendan Fraser can be really annoying. But the movie has some really great cinematography and background music.

Will be checking out The Mummy Returns later this evening. Damn I miss seeing these great cheesy fun-filled flicks!

The Weather Man

It's films like this that remind me just how incompetent the Academy Awards really are. Not even a nomination? Come on now.

Nick Cage wasn't any better or worse than usual, but I truly think that Micheal Caine deserves some kind of recognition. He was incredible IMO. The entire cast did a good job, but it was Caine that really stood out for me.

I also really enjoyed the plot. I was worried that I might get bored, but while not a lot happens in this film I cant remember one moment where I wasn't interested. You really start to feel for the characters, and you want to see them succeed. It's a simple story on the surface, but is wonderfully complex if you stop to think about it.

It even managed to have it's funny moments. The "glove slap" had me laughing like a lunatic, and I'm not afraid to admit it.

I don't really know what else to say about this, other than that it's a shame it didn't get an Oscar. Is it one of the best films of all time? No, not really. One of the best films of '05? There is no question.

8.5/10
