Gamecube looks like the way to go. Although, modding a PS2 is pretty easy. I have a disc I ordered from ebay that tells you how to do so. It's quite easy. I never did it because I didn't have the money to order a specific item I needed from the internet. But that's just my 2 cents worth. XBox has some pretty damn good games though.

I have a moded PS2 & Gamecube (prefer NTSC software), but never had any hassle with the PS2 being chipped....

I know the slimline ones have problem with over heating (not enough room in the case for the chip...

well, the x-box has been pretty good so far.
turns out modding isnt even an issue - i found so many cheap used games that i'll never play them all.

i cant spend more than 15 minutes playing any game no matter how cool ..i dont have the time.

definately some fun games though..
