I have been great, how about you newb?

Equilibrium is very Orwellian in the story, as opposed to the Matrix which is kind of "Post-apocalyptic, Cyberpunk Messiah"

It was okay, surprisingly good for a film few people have heard of. I loved the "gunkata."

There were a few plot holes though. I mean - outlawing emotion? That's a little in-your-face. Fahrenheit 451 was better - they ban books, so people can have emotions but they're shallow and superficial.

What always go to me was the fact that the Grammaton Clerics all had distinct personalities. The soldiers, the ones in all the riot gear, were the real mindless servants of the state.

I watched the little featurette on the DVD, and the clerics havinf personality was a concious decision. Kurt Wimmer thought it would be too stale if they had 0 indiviuality. I did think that was cool though, the regular poice really were faceless minions.

I took the "outlawing emotion" as a fantasy element. I immediately thought of Farenheit 451 when they torched the mona lisa at the beginning. I thought it was a great modern dystopia, and they really dont seem to tmake those any more.

I saw Equilibrium off of someone's recommendation on this site. I thought it was okay, but not great and certainly not better than The Matrix. (Due largely in part to the fact thatit came out after the Matrix and totally jocked their style.) I could never shake the feeling that I was watching a wannabe Matrix and that really made me not like this as much as I probably would have had it come out before Matrix or "borrowed" from it a little less.

I saw this movie a few years ago... I think It was what it was.... a Matrix style (has this become part of our basic teminology yet?) actioner with just as good, and more understandable, moral tale as the matrix. It wasnt self convoluted and you didnthave to watch an Anime and pay a game to get the whole story. It surpassed the Matrix in every conceivable way IMHO

I'd have to agree with you DM. Equilibrium is much better than the Matrix, sure E borrowed the action style from the Matrix, but the acting, and even the story I thought are much better. I for one never thought that the Matrix was as great as everone made it out to be. just my 2 pennies

Just listen to this sentence and tell me what it means. I haven't seen Evil Dead II yet? Would you get the impression that i wanted to see it? Oh, well you couldn't have been dying to see it or else you would have already gone. So in your opinion would I definitely see it?
How the fuck should I know probably!
Why? Because it's a brilliant film, it's so funny, and the soundtrack kicks fucking ass!

Yeah, but they don't all borrow the general storyline, costumes, camera shots, and action sequences.

Equilibrium is a better than average Matrix knock-off and nothing more...
