I know, but thats not how I spell doughnut. I never did understand why they spelled it donut. Do-nut. It doesn't even sound like doughnut. It's just another way to get out of spelling a long word. God I hate slang. Every now and then is ok, but donut? Really, I pity anyone who is to lazy to spell it the right way. [/

In parts of Hicksville around here it is sometimes spelled--and pronounced--DOG NUT!

We call them doughnuts here too, may be something to do with the fact that they are not only in the shape of a "nut", but also made out of a dough like substance....you never know....

I have a question... I assume it's pronounced "DoeNut" in most places over there right? If so, same here. Just spelled: doughnut.
Ok, so why then is your "version" pronounced "doenut", I wonder...Clearly, by the way it is spelled, it should not be pronounced "doeNut", but "DOONUT"...eh....sounds scottish?!?

My brother worked for a company called "Spudnuts" in the late 60's early 70's. It wasn't a doughnut shop, but a manufacturing plant. They used potato flakes in their batter, they were actually pretty good, they sold them at smaller shops and grocery stores. They were bought out by Maplehurst in the 70's.

Doughnut or Donut, it's kind of like Ketchup or Catsup, whats the diffrence?

Hey...I've heard of that...Have you heard of the company that puts potato flakes in their ice-cream?...I've never tried it myself, but people say that it's really good and that the ice-cream actually seems smoother and creamier...Weird, huh?
