Actually, there's four. There's Nakata's Ring 2, but there's also a seperate sequel called The Sprial (no relation to Uzumaki), which is a direct adaptation of Koji Suzuki's second book in the orginal Ring trilogy (the third was Loop, which hasn't been filmed). The Spiral is completely unrelated to Ring 2 and vastly inferior (it does have the neat touch when the main character sees the tape for the first time and a naked Sadako pops out and tries to have sex with him. Didn't see that in any of the other Rings films). Then of course there's the prequel, Ring 0, which is kind of weak (trying to make Sadako the heroine of a romantic tragedy is like casting Freddy Kruegar in Romeo And Juliette). Then there's the Korean remake The Ring Virus and the US remake, and Nakata's upcoming US Ring 2 . . . it just goes on and on.

When it's good. But I've sat through some painfully bad Jap horror films.

I enjoyed most of the Ring movies, but I still think The Sprial and Ring 0 were kinda week. It's gonna be interesting to see Nakata's American Ring 2.
